Hey all,
I've got a 98 QC LB from Texas. I live in Vermont. The truck looks good, but I know it won't after a few winters in the salt. I'm trying to make it last and I'm thinking of having Arma Coating sprayed in the bed and over the rails. I'm also thinking of having them do the rocker panels, but I'm thinking about just to the first crease in the body, not all the way to the plastic trim. I would probably have them do an inch over the wheel wells too.

I'm wondering if people have had this done. I'm running stock tires, but they still kick up, and I really don't want to see the doors and fenders rust out in a few years.

Has anyone had it done? If so, how is it holding up against the salt? Any thoughts on just going to the first crease in the body (maybe 8" up from the bottom)?

Thanks -

Liam

as long as you get it on the backside of the panel and underneath to prevent water from getting in there it should work out good

Had mine sprayed 5 years ago exactly like you want to, and it has been a great investment! Go for it.

i did it on my old chevy, i do body work for a living and we use a product at work called raptor liner, its made by upol. comes in a quart bottle, add hardner, shake it and spray. you can get a tintable kit to make any color you want for less than 150 dollars. i highly recomend it. this past summer i wheeled the crap out of this truck dragging it across alot of rocks and it has held up great. here are a few pics.

Its ok to spray bedliner on the outside of rocker panels and door bottoms as that will protect it against stone chips and things but most rust starts from the inside. to really protect them they should be sprayed with oil at least once a year inside rockers, doors, fenders etc. In fact up here where we get a lot of salt in the winter we soak the whole underside of the truck. Makes a mess but you can clean a rust free truck off in the spring and it will look good....

on my 2001 dodge 2500 I had the rockers sprayed with red speedliner (bed liner) to match the rest of the red truck (sport). I had it done in 2003, after the truck was 2 years old. I sold it in 06 and saw it the other day in a parking lot. The rockers were completly rusted out from the inside out, but the bed liner was holding it together. I think there was a problem with 94-01 dodges rusting out on the doors.

Had mine done with Line-X when I got the truck 4 years ago. Scrub it with scouring powder, rinse well, and apply floor wax to it with a sprayer. Looks like new when it's clean, no stone chips, no scratches, etc.

If you are worried about rust, take your door interior panels off and literally pour paint into the door. I need to do mine, the doors have rust but you can't see it. Undercoating and oil spray for the under side are both good ideas.

get rocker guard...its made for rockers. it works well on my 2001 grand cherokee and its softer then bed liner in the sence if you hit your shins on your rockers (I hit my shins and knees all the time becuase of the hight of the jeep) and it doesn't hurt as much as bed liner does becuase bedliner is more abrasive.
