so im looking into a DAP combo package or packages

my questions are how they spool to what i have now. im looking at both of these, which i think they are both 62mm turbos. i tow a travel trailer on hoildays and quad trailers...and not much in the winter.

i want something that spools relativelty quick and will help me turn my truck inot a fun machine, that tows easily and i can have more fun driving.

Combo Deal 98-02 200HP Injectors + Head Studs + Super B Special + Downpipe and Clamp

Combo Deal 98-02 150HP Injectors + Industrial Injection Phat Shaft 62 Turbo + Downpipe and Clamp

The Super B Special is a 64mm (64/71/14), that's probably why they list it with 200hp injectors. This setup is manageable if you tow light to light/medium. This setup would be a little smoky when towing which you may regret. Can be smoky when not towing, however, much easier to contol smoke without the added towing weight!

The 62mm with 150's or less is more in line for a tow rig.

Ideal high hp tow rig will have twins. Of course you can have fun with the
2nd combo you listed.

I also believe DAP will work with you to come up with other combo's that save you a little $$.

I would work head studs into whichever combo you choose.

Just out of curiosity, have you taken care of your transmission? I.e. billet input/output, 5th gear nut fixed. Both set ups will work fine for what you want/need. Either way, when you are towing you will want to keep an eye on your egts.

new clutch and transmission rebuild with billet input and output shafts and 5th wheel nut fix will be taking place as soon as it heats up a little so i can work without gloves on. :thumbsup:

yeha i was leaning towards this one, and i just fixed my sig i forgot to put the fuel boss mech fuel pump i have. keeps things steady at 17-18psi

ok guys i have been talking to DAP and they can offer me a BD Killer B 63/65/14 and 160's or 175's for the same price as a phatshaft 62mm and 150's

they are telling me that the spool is marginally slower but the 63mm peaks earlier than the 62mm and they suggest a tunnel ram to help with the 50-100rpm spool difference.

does this sound good? and should i be going for it?

I towed and play around with a 62/65 phatshaft and 100s for a long time...very impressive combo. I think you really like the 62mm turbo and the 150s. I running that now and i wouldnt trade it for anything..Once you go so big you are going to eat into your fuel mileage when towing. really its whatever you want man. You want to be able to rip the streets up then go with the big 200s and the 64. Just keep in mind that you are going to be hard on that NV4500 like that.

I tow 8-10k easily with 225 and a special. Water meth helps though. Egts are easily manageable with a stick.

Super bs can spool great it's all based on how they are setup. Nothing will spool like stock. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on all this

both kits will include headstuds and be the same price, because im lining up a clutch and heavy duty hydrolics as well they are doing me a good deal! :shock::thumbsup:

If you're using the truck for towing you want a 12cm housing. 12cm will spool quicker but will cause the EGTs to increase slightly.
I don't have experience with that combo but I would assume 150 sticks and the 62mm turbo will keep your EGTs very manageable...

a lot of that(egt) is gonna depend on the injector.

op,the difference between the housings is minial and the difference in spool will be minimal. but i agree with him as far as towing or not towing.

I would go with the 12 for auto and 14 for stick. I have a 62 now and was planning on putting a 451ve on it when the engine gets rebuilt due to a 53 block failure, but I am now thinking of the switchblade to get better spool and better cooling. I came up with an exhaust brake design for them and if they go with it I will definitely go with the switchblade turbo.
