Here's my scenerio.......I get up to go to work or anywhere, crank the truck, and get constant white smoke for a few seconds. I can rev the motor a few times and it goes away. I proceed to work and when I crank up to come home, same thing happens again, white smoke. This happens basically any and every time the truck sits for a few hours.

Now........I had to put my cat and dpf crap back on a few weeks ago to get some recall work done. When I fire it up....no smoke at all....I take it back off after a week of no smoke and put my dpf delete back on....back to the white smoke again!

If I had to take an educated guess, something is cracked or leaking where it shouldn't be. I really need some help on this from you guys because I can't go to the dealer with this issue.

may have been in the middle of a regen when you (re)-removed all the DPF junk. may be stuck in regen and causing the white smoke.
:ditto:That what I'm thinking too. Take the truck out on the freeway for a run of about 20 miles. See if that lets it finish the regen.

mine too - every time on a cold/first start it will lope a few times and belch white smoke. If I don't wait for the edge to clear codes, no lope and no smoke, but then I get the Cat Full msg. So I clear codes, wait for the lope and smoke and go. I also get the p245a code a minute later for the EGR cooler. On a warm start, no lope, no smoke and no code. I may pull the butterfly or the gear from the air-horn, but the previous time I did this I got the lightening bolt, although that may have been because of a GenII problem...

My egr is still in place. I haven't gotten brave enough to mess with it yet. I've got the dpf-r delete system and it's supposed to reset the regen cycle everytime I wait for 15 seconds before starting the truck. On a side note, what would blue smoke at start-up mean instead of white, b/c I swear it almost seems more blue than it does white???

Checked the coolant today...twice...first time I didn't wait long enough and lost a splash of it on my hand.....other than that the coolant level is fine and the oil level is perfect too. It's been smokin like this now for months so I'm thinking it's not a coolant issue....maybe.

If I re-enable my EGR (ie: plug it in)... mine is fine for about 20 min or so, then goes into a regen... fine while driving.. but when I go to idle... it smokes white huge clouds...

Go smell the smoke.. it will have a very strong scent to it if you are stuck in regen mode without the deletes... it wont sell like "burning oil" or regular diesel exhaust... it will almost burn your nostrals.... and make your eyes water.

White smoke is essentially unburnt diesel fuel...

My old ford f-350 would do it in the AM on cold days if I did not let the coils warm up, and even then it would smoke like that for about 10 seconds.

I had the white smoke as well. I think it had something to do with the egt sensors making it try to regen. I am running the smarty with all the deletes. Downloaded the new software and unplugged the egt probes and taped them up. I also had this crazy loud whistle noise. Everything is all good now and 22.5 mpg. The white smoke scared the crap out of me so I parked the truck till the updates. This is day number three and haven't had any problems (knock on wood)
