I had a shop I use sometimes do an AGR brake swap out on my 2009 dually. I added AGR rotors all the way around, Motul fluid, and the blue printed front calipers. I had them drain all the brake fluid out including the ABS which was a little extra.

Now I have my truck back and the peddle is seriously mushy. I went back and had them bleed it again but it made no difference. I went home and after parking the truck I pumped the peddle to discharge the hydro boost to see what it would do to the peddle. It firmed the peddle right up which tells me the extra pressure compressed the air that must be hiding some where.

Is there some special bleeding procedure that needs to be done to purge air from the truck that isn't the norm on other vehicles? I'm going to take my truck to my normal Diesel truck mechanic at Andre's in Bastrop in the morning but wanted to hear from anyone who may be savvy on this topic.

The shop that did the work investigated the topic further and the book calls for some ABS activating tool that will displace any air in the ABS sensors which of course they do not have. Hopefully Andre's will have a solution.

Depending on how they replaced the fluid, the ABS block needs to be cycled. If they pumped out all the fluid, then refilled and bled, def need to cycle the ABS. One way around it is you suck out what fluid you can from the master cylinder, top off with new fluid and pump through the system till you see fresh fluid. Another thing to note since you said pumping your brake pedal firmed it up, could be that your master cylinder is going out. That is a sign of master cylinder needing replacement when you have a soft pedal but pumping firms it up.

So why did they suck all the fluid out? Why not just let it gravity bleed and keep refilling the reservoir to keep it from running dry??????

If you've ended up with air in the ABS valve go out and find some gravel road get up a good head of steam and Sh!tstomp the brake pedal. Do this about 10 times, then do a gravity bleed at each corner RR, LR, RF, LF in that order.

I did the gravel deal and locked up the brakes the other day a half dozen times and it helped a bunch. Thank everyone for the feedback.
