Smoke from dash

Hey y’all,

So this morning leaving for work I noticed a burning smell in the cab of my truck. I thought maybe it was something outside, as it’s common for people to burn trash, and didn’t think much of it. But after driving a few minutes I noticed the smell hadn’t gone away. When I pulled up to a stop sign I noticed smoke coming from behind the dash on the drivers side in the far corner. I immediately pulled over thinking something was catching fire, popped the hood, smelled around and didn’t see or smell anything out of the ordinary. The smell is only in the cab.

Has anyone had a similar experience or know of what could be burning in my dash? I don’t know if this is something that will pass and shouldn’t worry too much, or if it’s something that should be addressed ASAP.

If y’all could give any kind of insight on what might be going on I’d really appreciate it.

If I can get a video of the smoke, I’ll be sure to post it.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply.

That’s what I figured. It’s tough because it’s my only means of transportation. I realize it’s stupid to keep driving it, but not showing up to work is not an option. I’ll see if I can get it checked out tomorrow.

Does anyone know what it could be? Do our trucks have speakers in the dash? Maybe a shorting wire?
Surprisingly I didn’t smell or see anything this morning. I’ll take a look behind the dash today or sometime this weekend and get back to y’all. A burn down or a catastrophic melt down of the wiring in the dash rendering my truck useless is my biggest fear.

When I figure something out, I’ll give y’all an update. Thanks again.
