I just received my Smarty Jr in the mail from Bob (thanks again Bob!) and was excited to hook it up. Until.. I tried to plug it in, and found out that the smarty won't connect. Do those pins look right? I looked at the plug itself, and the plastic housing was cracked off. Maybe a previous owner kicked it or something? I can't imagine the truck having any other software on it since it doesn't smoke at all and drives like a stock truck should. I've followed the instructions as well - key in on position, plug in, the unit turns on, then keeps telling me to turn off/on to connect.

Talk about a bursted bubble! I was looking forward to this all week! :banghead:

Any chance you guys can take a picture for me so I KNOW what it looks like? :) I called a parts shop yesterday. Looks like the only place I can get it is at the dealer. I'm going to have to do this anyway since if I ever have problems I'll need to be able to plug in the scanner somewhere. How the heck does this happen anyway??

They are Bremerton Dodge in Wa state. Wait until 8:00 and talk to a parts rep. They are very helpful and the shipping is reasonable especially considering you are close.
Called them up and they weren't able to get access to that part. Either way, glad to have another reputable source for parts. Going through the local dealer for this one.

For the archives: part number 5183480AA includes the connector and a wiring kit. Will post back if I'm successful after installation.

Installed and Smarty Jr connects with no problems. Have it on SW1 just to try it out for some time. Thanks for the help again!
