I just installed my smarty with the most recent ME from the website. From what I've read it seems you get the most fuel mileage benefit with the higher tunes. I have no engine or tranny mods other than full deletes. Would it be safe to run SW#9, POD-50, TQ-2, VGT-1, RP-default, Timing-default.

Again the only reason I was thinking this way was to get the full benefit of the timing of SW#9, without blowing anything up. But what I don't know is if this will be bad for the injectors? I've been running around on SW#5, POD-80, TQ-2, all default. So far I've had no clutch slippage, but I haven't pushed more than 1/2 throttle.

What do you guys think? Also, I don't have gauges, so what are the cheapest easiest to install gauges?

You don't have the hard parts for sw9. Too much tuning is bad, even if you don't trash your tranny. You'll be faster on sw7 than you will be sw9. I would say to turn it up to sw7 and see if she smokes under full throttle. If she does then that's all you got.

I found my best fuel mileage on sw7 with my foot out of it. Generally ran everything at default except for timing and ran that at level 3..

That netted me just under 20 on the hwy..

I ran sw3 TNT for 18months just had to leave tq management stock and be careful not to slip the converter lockup clutch at low rpm. Sw9 is fine at 99% if you don't crowd it at low rpm with the regular smarty. I don't like how they shift if you use the pod. Stick with sw7 if you're worried about it. You won't hurt anything either way...

Ok, thanks guys, I guess I was worried about too much boost. I can make sure I don't slip the clutch.

POD-50 would be a gutless turd

set it up at about 100hp and enjoy
:agree2:
Stay away from POD until you get a better understanding of how your truck works with the tune you run. Then you can turn it down some if you choose. During beta testing I found that at 50 or less it pretty much took everything away and then some. I've always liked catcher SW7. It gives a very smooth power. Not as snappy as other settings. Easy on the equipment with good results.

Pod is pretty much a joke IMO. EGTs don't improve, the trans shifts funky, etc. Keep the vgt setting at stock or mild, and leave the tq management stock.

Ok, so, I've put a thousand miles or so on it. I put it on SW5 with TQ2, VGT1, Timing 3, all else default. Is there such a thin as "too much" timing? I don't hear any kind of "knocking". I set it at timing 4, and still didn't hear anything odd, but switched back cause I didn't know if it was safe. But fuel mileage increase going from SW5 on default to SW5 Timing 3 made a big difference in fuel mileage. Would it be safe to try higher timing settings, should I beware of anything?

Try it and see. If she doesn't sound like your getting timing rattle (you'll know it) then your good. Besides most would have considered Smarty to be running more timing that H&S prior to EFI live. But by looking at the maps. That's just not the case. H&S's timing tables are a whole lot higher..

So far nibin I've tried smokes at allthey I can tell. I'm just a little worried to push too hard cause I don't have a boost gauge. I rellycant believe dodge doesn't put one on like ford does.

Well, I'm kinda assuming it's a stick clutch. I bought the truck with 150k on it from a used dealer and they didn't know what the clutch situation was. I assume it's a stock power because I don't have any of the noises I hear people talk about having with higher HP clutches. When I'm on the highway at say 55, and I give it a little gas, I can feel in the pedal that it's either slipping a little, or really wants to. But I'm not getting enough slippage where the RPMs really rap up, without any acceleration.

this is exactly what i'm running, excellent results with it. darn good fuel economy with this setting, excellent power as well. never even see a haze with it either when i get on it. when i get this POS vgt working again :banghead: and the tranny retuned , i'm going to SW9 with the same revos.
