Hey guys I bought a slide in camper for my truck. 2001 2500 longbed. The truck has sway bars already. I took it out once last year and figured out I will need something to help with the sway the extra weight creates when cornering. I've got a leveling kit on my truck and it squats a little with the camper on. So I figured air bags are a must. Will the bags help with the top heavy sway? What is everybody else using? I was on Torklifts website and noticed they have some bolt on rubber pads that basically makes the overloads work sooner. Wondering if anyone has an opinion on those?

Thanks

I really like the airbags myself. You can adjust them to whatever firmness you want for whatever load you have. Then, whenever you are hauling anything, you just deflate them and its like they arent even there. I think they will give you more stability and it will help level your truck out when under weight.

The airs bags will make your sway worse as they unload the oem suspension and put the camper up on rubber marshmellows. You will be better off with the camper pkg overload springs, if you have them already its best to force them to engage earlier. The best bang for the buck is the Rancho adjustable shocks, you'll appreciate the max dampening when hauling a TC.

What camper did you buy ?

Bigger sway bar will help. Contact Chrysler and see if you truck had a camper and or towing package.

I was able to get the build sheet and found that my 01 has both.

Thanks FF1063! Good info hadn't really thought about it that way. I've got the window sticker for my truck I think it has the camper package?? I know it has 2 leafs in the overload pack and a sway bar. I'll have to look. I think I'll try those Torklift Stable loads then. I really like the air bags for the ride quality. Hopefully these won't beat me up to bad when unloaded. They look easy enough to install if they are bad I guess I could just remove them for the winter months.

Agreed! The airbags simply elevate your load. A stouter Hellwig 1 5/8" swaybar would help and as mentioned some Rancho 9000's are a cheap way to kill the sway. You will notice freeway section joints more though.

FF1063 I bought a 10' Hallmark got rid of a 33' toyhauler for it. I can get to places now! Too bad I've got some pretty new Bilsteins on there. Thanks for the advice guys!

The Bilsteins should be fine up front. The rear Bilsteins will be overwhelmed. The rear will benefit from some Rancho 9000's though. You can dial in a firm setting while the camper is mounted. They worked well on my '98.5 w/slide in.
