2001 5speed 2wd qclb
So I am running 150hp DDP injectors, edge jwa hot unlock, bhaf fass150.
I plan on running a monster Vp44 with "300hp" sticks.
Would this turbo work for me now? How about with the monster pump?

It has 6k miles I can buy it for $850..
bottom line is I'm not really experienced with turbos; should I get it?

This truck doesn't tow anything btw.

Thanks guys!

I am by no means a turbo expert. But I have done a lot of research in what turbo I want in the end. Everything I've read supports the statement of the 66mm isn't a good match with our VP trucks. I'm sure someone with experience will chime in. Everything I've read points to any other size than a 66mm. I could be mistaken. Just my .02

Yes it would work but you will have to learn to get use to the lag which really isn't that big of a deal. With a monster pump it should be much more enjoyable. Do some research and call around on injectors. Mike will recommend you run his injectors with the Monster pump, but you could run whatever you want.

Just make sure you take care of the supporting mods and it should be a fun setup. It will be pretty nasty up top when you get the turbo lit.

I have an Industrial Phatshaft 66 on my truck with 225 sticks. Before I did a cam, it was somewhat laggy, but you learn how to drive it daily. After a cam upgrade, the truck has excellent street manners. I will say though, on the top end that turbo is NASTY. Gotta love a big single:thumbsup:

Now I have to figure out why I keep blowing inter cooler boots :confused013:

Thanks

Well Mike did recommend.his sticks OR at least for me to get sticks.of the same.size because the.pump fuels so much it will take a if your injectors arent big enough

I'd watch drive pressures, as I'm sure in hindsight that's how I destroyed my silver bullet. I also felt that turbo lag (6 speed manual) was more noticeable in the thick cloud of smoke on acceleration than it was in the seat of the pants dyno. With some tuning a 66 is a decent choice for you. It gets hammered because the egts can get high towing, and a vp doesn't have the rpm others do. If it's in good shape and you're willing to learn how to drive it, I'd do it for that price.

Colt Cams Stage 3 "Big Stick. If i remember correctly, it's a 188/220. I've been in love with it from the moment I put it in. If you're going with a 66, want great street manners and some more top end, I think it's well worth the investment!

Thanks

66 isn't laggy at all with 6x16 injectors, monster pump, and cam i could fry the tires any time i wanted with an auto. well maybe not from a stand still and punch it unless you did a boosted launch
If I punch mine from a stand still, I get a decent cloud, then the tires start spnning :party018: They won't spin for forever on a non boosted launch, but they'll definitely break loose. I'm running DAP's 225 8hole (not sure what size as it's not listed :confused013:). I still had some lag, but it wasn't horrible.

Thanks

I'm running 7x.012 SAC sticks and an Edge drag comp with a Fass 150.

Been planning on picking up a Silver Bullet for it, how do you guys think it will lite with my fueling? Running a super hx40 right now and its kinda laggy, won't lite until 1800-2000. But its a 60/65/16 has a big ex housing.

Not sure about those injectors, but when I had my 125s (I don't remember exactly what they were) The turbo hated them. High EGTs, poor towing ability and completely out of fuel on the top end. IMO, 200s are what are needed to effectively light a 66 on our motors. Your drag comp will definitely help though.

7x.012s are 200-230h sticks. Alex211 if you put a SB66 in place of your 40, it will probably light around the same way but ha e WAY more top end. Do it.
