When i was picking up the truck from the garage the mechanic told me that my steering doesn't self-center and that i have a bad ball joint. Well I pulled the wheels and unhooked the tie rods on both sides and the ball joints look good, no seizing at all. So now I'm wondering what the heck the problem is, does anyone here have any idea?
Oh, I also had them turn the screw on the steering box, to take the play out of the wheel.

These trucks are slow to self center on the best of days. I turn wrenches for a living and never seen a ball-joint cause this. To check them for play, lift the truck and grab the wheel at the top and bottom and give it a good shake or put a large bar(3 feet long) under the tire and pull up like your trying to lift the truck off the stands and get a buddy to look for play in the ball-joints.
