What is the advantage of shimming? More fuel of course but what else? Will it help improve the economy? More Power with mods? Its a cheap upgrade and I was just looking into the positives. I plan on getting the XRT soon with all deletes will it improve the performance of the xrt? Thanks for you help guys.

shimming the fuel release can help the valve from prematurely opening, even under stock settings, so depending on the state of your valve it may help gain some power just by doing it to stock. Other than that it helps maintain a higher rail pressure when the programmer or tuner commands it. Otherwise you get this real annoying surging of the truck as the valve continually blows open and closed open and closed

So what you're saying is do the release and there wont be an annoying surge?

Depending on what programmer/tuner you are using there will still be some, but the surging at WOT and higher rev ranges should be completely eliminated. The highest pressure is commanded at high RPM and high throttle input so this is most likely where the relief is going to be the issue. There have been quite a few reports of the smarty and edge surging at mid throttle, which could be the rail blowing off, but it is unlikely that they are seeing relief pressures at mid throttle (unless they have a broken/weak spring in the relief).

Yes.

I can't remember who it was...but they did a video for it, too.

It was a very good and detailed write-up.

Maybe Kurt will remember?

Nevermind, found the awesome video. It's in the 6.7 tech section & he did one hell of a job on it! Very detailed.

Slagburn did the video and yes, he is awesome.
That's right! Dang, that completely slipped my mind!

Speaking of Slag, where's he been lately?

I haven't seen him post in a while.

Piddling on boat forums.
Now, why is that?

Is he looking for a boat now?

He just needs to remember a few key words...Fountain, Forumula, Sunsation, Daytona, Pier 57, etc...

Those are the only kinds of boats I'm interested in...LOL
