i found a performance shop in lewiston, id that will set it for 125 bucks!! when i had it done in portland i payed 375 lol.

(the head studs and .020 over marine gasket are going in soon... before the timing so im open to pretty much whatever on the timing)

any ways its at 16.5 or was, i think it might have slipped though.
Tell me how far i should go???

i have the 4k gsk and valve springs so i would like to be able to make muchos power though at least 3500 rmps I was thinking about going to 20 degrees???

the other thing is that i usually cruize at 1800-1900 rpms, and i know that timing is supposed to help with economy but im wondering if going that far with the timing would hurt the cruizing at all?

I have 20* currently and it runs just fine gonna bump it up and see if she likes it better . it did pick up about 60hp on the dyno, but street manners are a lot better. With the mods you have I think you will realy like 20

So going from say 11* (or whatever stock is) up to 16 or 20*, whats that going to do to fuel economy?

their has to be a drawback to it!

If not, why wouldnt cummins be shipping them out with 20* worth of timing!

Longevity issues?

emissions, cylinder pressures, slightly harder starting, its a little harder on the bearings, etc

What performance shop are you taking it to in lewiston? I am looking for a good shop to 0-ring/fire ring my head and do the installation.

Idaho Diesel Technology...
129 20th St N
Lewiston, ID 83501

I've only ever talked to them on the phone once, and i've never really heard anything about them so i don't know if they will be able to O-ring, or if they would do a good job. I figure they can't really screw up setting the pump timing.

Well you might talk to Todd at Hanson Garage in Orofino,I know he does it and I think he is cheaper than $125.

better fuel economy, more power, lower egt's (also increases cylinder pressure though anything over 16.5 will pop a stock HG
