Seat belt retractor is too sensitive

The seat belt for the passenger side is very sensitive. If the passenger moves even a little bit forward the belt locks up tight. The only way to unlock it is to undo the belt and put it back on. Is this common or is there something we can do to make it a little less sensitive?

Geesh I swear you were my wife! She complains about the exact same thing. The only problem is that if I am in the passenger seat when she drives, I have absolutely no problems. To be honest, I think it's user error....:rof
I had the same complaints. In my case, it turns out the wife was not pulling the belt tight across the lap before hooking up and this seemed to cause the locking device to engage with little motion from the passenger. I got her to put the belt on "right" and no more problems.

You are experiencing the child seat lock on the seat belt. If the belt is pulled all the way out ( fully extended ) it activates the seat belt lock for securing a child safety seat. When putting the belt on do not pull the belt all the way out to put it on. You also get this effect if you try to pick something up out of the floorboard or any other time you fully extend the belt.
This is only on the passenger seats.

I've never heard that one before, but it makes sense. I have the same problem on my Tahoe also. My problem is - I'm too fat to NOT pull it all the way out when I latch it.
