I posted a question yesterday, got some good answers however I am still stuck. 2002 4X4 quad cab 75,000 miles, Banks 4inch with power elbow, super chips programmer set on safe tow. While towing fifth wheel home from Colorado comming up out of Slate Creek on good old 87 the truck like hit a rev limiter or something power went away, I let off and re stabbed it power came back, it did this 4 or 5 times. Checked fuel pressure at idle 12 psi replaced fuel filter even though it is only 4 months old, it has a code P0216 injector timing, could I get this code from using the super chips programmer and I am guessing the timing is achieved through the computer and not a mechanical adjustment. As I have mentioned I am new to working on diesels hope some one can give me a clue.

the ole 216 code is the death bed for the IP....sorry to hear that! are you still driving the truck? The programmer itself didn't cause the code but the software that you downloaded into the truck for the added power could have.......the lp's on our trucks are crap and when you ask them to perform out of there range they fry!

what about under a load or at wide open throttle or even moderate acceleration, if your dropping under 8psi in any of those circumstances, thats what fried your ip.

under pressure

Only have a remote read gage, another thing to buy for the inside, guess I will be swapping out the two gage pillar post for a 3 or 4 gage one.

two stroke

I have been running Stanadyne in my fuel, should I use the two stroke and the Stanadyne or just the two stroke by itself

I use the two stroke always and run the stanadyne about every 8-10th tank just for the injector cleaner.

shoulda-coulda-woulda

Shoulda-coulda-woulda talked wit you fellars afore I gone and did the upgrade things. I am getting that the Holley blue or black pumps are electric fuel pumps and replace the stock lift pump, and I am reading about hard starting problems due to higher fuel pressure.

if your gonna upgrade the lift pump, i would go with the fass or airdog setup, the holley's work good if your on a budget though, as long as you regulate your pressure to 12-16 psi you should be fine.
