I was just wondering if the stock valvetrain will handle higher than redline every so often... I kinda raced a 03 F250 with the 6.0L and hit 3,600rpm a few times.:w:

Truck runs fine, just wondered if I'm playing with fire.. lol

did u win?
I don't know the answer to ur question, I have an auto tranny, and it seems to let the rpms slide up in mid 3000s when u hit the throttle.

Haha, it was neck and neck till i went for fifth then he'd pull away.. His 03 was a crew cab short bed with a 6in lift and 35's.. Had stacks, edge programer, and intake..

I was happy with my crew cab long bed dually stick.. haha

Yeah, your playing with fire.

Stock valve train is good to about 3500 rpm's and less than 50 psi boost. Probably didn't hurt anything but you are on the edge.

I've always heard that 60 pounders were good for 4000 without float?
that would depend on boost

80+psi of boost will blow the valves open at about any RPM

Doesn't the turbo's drive pressure close valves as much as boost pressure opens valves?
Its not the exhaust side you need to worry about, its the intake side blowing open and hanging from the boost.

There is some back pressure from the overlap but not enough to rely on keeping the intakes closed.

your truck should be defueling due to factory settings. my truck wouldnt go over 105 mph until i got my PMT and i was able to set it to 150mph but i havent tried it yet. it gets alittle squarly at around 110. the other thing you can do is gearing like you said.

Kinda caught me off gaurd.. It revs fast.. I max out around 35psi boost.. No limiter that I know of, I'm sure it will run right past 3,600rpm without watching it..

It seems to still run fine, I just need more power to make up for lack of rpm's haha...:$:

i can rev mine up way too far, 3500 once not on purpose, but driving wide open it pegs out at 3200 and 108. but while shifting thru the gears it rev up to about 3400 b/f shifting.

Mine seems to increase rpms for a spit second after I let off the gas to shift.. That's how it seems to get away from me..

My 06 auto, does the same thing. If I floor it the tach will hit 3500 before it shifts. I don't know if its supposed to get that high. Was hoping someone on here could provide some insight.
