Well I might be getting rid of my truck for a Chevy duramax. My local Dodge dealership has been giving me problems so a friend of mine has put some thought in my head to get a duramax. He does work at a chevy dealership as a mechanic and told me that the diesel mechanics at the dealership are great mechanics. My brother-in-law has a duramax and I do like it, but what I don't like is the IFS suspension. I could always modify it but I just don't know alot about the duramax. I have e-mailed Dodge about the problems I have been having but they don't seem to be backing up their products right now. I guess you are wondering what my problems are. The sevice department at the dealership is trying to rip me off on prices for parts. I need a new dash for my truck and they want me to pay $1000.00 for the dash and installation. $800.00 just for the dash. I have seen people pay $800 for part and istall. I guess I am just frustrated and just want a quick fix which would be to get rid of my truck. I really don't want to but I would like good customer service.

have you tried any other dealerships? try finding a 5 star dealer, any threat of losing their 5 star rating will likely get you what you want. plus they most likely have the 5 star rating for a reason..

That sucks. I would try a different dealership before you get rid of your truck. I had a problem with the dealer I brought my truck from, and ended up driving 30 miles outside of town to deal that knew what they were doing, with the added bonus of being less expensive on parts and install.

I'd rather have the cracked dash than the problems that come wrapped around the Duramax. Chevy trucks are for cushy businessmen and soccer moms that never use the truck as intended. Fast engine, crappy everything else. I've had 3 Chevys and neither made it to 60000 miles without a catastrophic breakdown. The most recent being an 06.

if you get a d-max you wont have problems so therefore you wont need to bring your truck back to the dealership. my brother has an 01 d-max with almost 100k and no problems whatsoever

Thanks for all the replies I just found a LMC truck catalog that has the top dash part for $120. So it looks like I will be keeping my truck. Also I will be looking into the other website y'all posted. Thanks guys!

Glad to hear you are keeping your truck! Dont get rid of your 01. Ive kicked myself over & over. I had an 07 duramax & like said earlier, fast engine but crappy truck. The IFS was already giving me problems at 20000 miles. IFS is for cars! not heavy duty trucks.

for a truck that isnt under warranty I would never go near a stealership anyways...if i had the the choice between a new truck and a used truck i would take used any day to stay away from a dealer..it doesnt matter if its a chevy dodge or ford.

when your dealing with a vehicle that is off warranty, the establish mechanics do the best work..and for parts, always check ebay
