What is changed to make an s400 to s475?

S4 is the series, s4XX, the x's typically being the inducer size. S475 would be an s400 with a 75mm inducer.

s400 is the center section size, shaft size ect. The compressor and exhaust wheel changes size for different setups.

So the inducer is the compressor side wheel?

The part you can see, yes. The compressor has an inducer and exducer diameter. They are typically referred to their size by the inducer diameter and then divided into a "trim" by the inducer to exducer ratio.

Yes and no. Both the compressor and exhaust wheel both have a inducer and exducer. The first place air enters the comperssor is the inducer, and where it exits is the exducer. Same idea for exhaust where it enters is inducer exit is exducer.

So if your s400 has a 75mm compressor wheel is it a s400 or a s475?

both, in general its an s400. in greater detail it is an s475.
an s480 is an s400. it just has a different compressor wheel
