with a 12 valve i wouldnt hesitate putting 2 stroke oil in it, its a fantastic lube additive for usdl. use a tc-w3 rated oil at 1oz per gallon (128:1) walmarts Super tech brand is a cheap way to go. 1 gal. around $8.00. avoid synthetic based 2 cycle oil

1 oz. 2 stroke oil per gallon of fuel. yes its a very good idea as it adds lubrication to the ulsd fuel we are buying these days... walmart sells the stuff by the gallon ($8-$9) that works well, but whatever you use make sure it has a tc-w3 rating on the container..

ynots57,

Telling someone to avoid using synthetic based 2 cycle oil is Wrong. Duluth Diesel has been using Amsoil synthetic 2 cycle oil in his truck for almost 2 years now and with out any problems. The only thing about using synthetic oil is the cost but many think its worth the cost and use in.

We use Amsoil in everything, and the MT-10 oil treatment. For fuel addatives we use the FT-10. It has out performed everything we have tried.

A student from Pitt came to us for a research paper (engineer), he tested many brands of oil, and fuel additives. I'm not sure what all tests he ran, but he did take our Timken bearing tester for awhile. One thing that sticks in my mind is water with a drop of the FT-10 fuel treatment out performed straight Lucas fuel treatment. I would never use that stuff. lol

Yep, it works. I run AMSOIL Diesel Concentrate for detergency, fuel stability, and a little lubricity. But since I have a VP44 and nothing provides lubricity like 2-stroke, I also run a quart of AMSOIL Interceptor in every tank. And if someone wants to ask if it is OK to run synthetic, it has been hashed over many times in the thread that was posted in post #2 in this thread. It burns fine and in fact cleaner than a conventional 2 stroke product. Of all AMSOIL's 2 stroke products, Interceptor has the best flash point and characteristics IMHO. I've run this for over 1.5 years in every tank and no issues whatsoever.

There is Chuck... I knew you would show up sooner or later...:thumbsup

Can you use the 2 cycle oil on the 24 valves?
Yes you can use 2 cycle oil in 1st Gens, 2nd Gens (12V and 24V)... 3rd Gens well it does work but you should reduce to 200:1 ratio...

Any vehicle with a DPF should NOT use any type of oil in there fuel...
