i have a 2004.5 i got with 150,000 miles. when i first got it, i noticed it would idle roughly and if i turned my a/c on it would go away. now it gets bad and the throttle will get stuck about 2,000 rpms in drive or nuetral and ill have to stop it by braking or cutting it off. its also blowing white smoke.. i had a quadzilla xzillaraider on pl 5, k&n intake, and 4 inch straight pipe exhaust. It hasnt had a valve adjustment or injector replacement to my knowledge.. i got it off iaai.com any help would greatly be appreciated.

You could have a number of problems but injectors, FCA, Quadzilla on level 5 with no aftermarket fuel filtration are just a few possibles that stick out to me. I have a quadzilla, but I also have a 2 Micron fuel filtration set up and never run it above lvl 3.

Pull your injectors and have them tested/replaced. It will be cheaper than rebuilding the engine if you continue to run it in this condition, assuming you've not already put a hole thru a piston.

Just for fun cycle your key on off on off on and leave on. Read the codes in the odometer window. If none it will just read done.
I would say disconnect your quadzilla and return to stock but,
I think the white smoke is only at cold start-up but lot's of it right.
You probably get black smoke when the RPM is sticking high.
It's injectors. Only buy new BOSCH injectors not re-man's.

Mine was really fun in an automatic when I had a couple sticking open. Stepping on the brake and trying to stop the truck was an experience you don't forget.

If so you would be throwing codes 99.9% of the time.

It could cause all the symptoms except the white smoke. Only water in the combustion chamber or a failed injector can do that.
Grey smoke accompanied with your engine RPM's running away or sticking could be a failed turbo or turbo seal allowing oil into the intake. You could remove the hose right after the turbo to confirm that.

im constantly gettng p0236 and p0713. it also hasnt rough idled in a few days and the throttle hang isnt as severe. i ran 50/50 burnt motor oil and fuel as well but the truck has had these symptons at 150000 miles and im at 159000 now:confused013:

50% waste engine oil is 10x as much as the maximum Cummins specs. They say not to go over 5%.

Likewise, if you have the stock filter canister, you're not filtering that oil well enough, and there's a lot of particulates smaller than the stock filter's cut off that are still too big for the injectors.

I won't be terribly surprised if what you're seeing is GREY smoke, but I'd be even less surprised if your HPCR has turned your 50/50 oil fuel mix into a nice slurry for wearing your injectors out rapidly.... especially at higher pressures.

If you have 159,000 miles on the truck on original injectors, and have been running even the most clean diesel through the stock filter, it's time to change the injectors.

INJECTORS

you've got more problems than a minor diesel soak of the wiring

analyze and find the real problem.

Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Blow-By - YouTube

Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 5.9 blow-by - YouTube

plan on driving the Chev. until you find the problem unless you have an extra $12,000 to spend on a new Cummins crate engine.

just brush some soapy water on the wiring harness and lightly mist spray off. no hard stream or power washer. then pull the connectors apart, spray with electrical contact cleaner and then coat with silicone dielectric grease. NO substitutes especially NO WD-40. The wiring diesel soak is not the cause of all your engine problems.

sounds like you just bought someone else's throwaway trouble that was not treated and maintained by the prior owner.

"""is there any other solutions?"""

sell it to some other sucker if you don't want the problem of fixing the engine correctly.

Cummins are like a good woman, gotta take care of it and treat it right or you're not gettin' any tonite and for awhile to come.

Burning used motor oil in a HPCR Cummins is like having sex with a blow up plastic doll. Ruins a great engine and ruins a man.

This is actually a common problem.

Check the wiring over by the alternator and AC compressor.

It tends to chaff the wiring right there and it's on the same circuit as your injectors and causes the condtions you're having.

Quick, easy, free.....start simple and inexpensive.

I feel for you man, I had to replace a lllllllooootttt of parts on my truck when I bought it because the prior owner didnt care either. My fault and I paid for it, literally. But I did get to tear into it and learn some stuff along the way, so it wasnt all bad. Plus, its pretty solid and reliable now.
150hp injectors:shock:???? Really? Do you think thats a good idea??? I dont.

And an upgraded CP3, and an upgraded turbo, and an upgraded lift pump, and full gauge suite... Looking at a $10k upgrade when all is said and done.

And that price also doesn't include the $6000+ transmission you'll need to hold that power without breaking.

can you show me a picture of what exactly to check over there? and my truck has ran without any white smoke today and grey smoke on start up its so weird. it still has a throttle hang somewhat but i feel its the FCA. as far my injectors im doing 150 hp injectors, fass 150 gph with filtration system, and a dragon 33% cp3 and after funds recover a twin turbo. as far as tranny my dad is building it for free as he uses my truck some to tow cars hes buying for his dealership. i already have a tripple disk converter now i need the shafts and rebuild kit, i was thinking bd stage 3 48re rebuild with a input shaft and output for now?

my eventuall goal is 700 hp i just wonana buy the parts pieces at a time not all at once
