i will be replacing my rocker panels that are very rusted right now. the floor in the cab is also rusted so there is not much good metal to weld to on the inside. once i replace these i would like to protect them from damage with out compromising my ground clearance. what do you think of these options?
welding some 2X2 supports out from the rails and then a bar or tube onto them that sits below and out a bit but nearly flush to the panel? or building out of plate a rocker panel to cover or replace the entire panel on the truck? i would like what ever i put there to perhaps prevent salt/dirt damage to the panels but defiantly to prevent physical damage from rocks, shopping carts, low speed impacts on the side from bottoming out or another car.
any ideas?
