So this week my brother and I loaded his 2012 dually up on the gooseneck, and I hauled it to Revmax to have a signature 700 installed. The trans was pre-ordered a few weeks ago and was ready for us when we got there. We arrived at the install shop about 20 minutes away from Remax's facility and the guys at the install shop made quick work of pulling his stock trans and getting the new one in. We went to grab some food while they where installing his signature 700 and when we got back it was done. The owner of the install shop come out scan tool in hand and told us that the new trans had a bad/faulty solenoid pack. As soon as he told us this, Tom from Revmax called and told us he had a new solenoid pack heading over and apologized about the bad one. Still not sure why is was bad, but this is the exact reason we hauled his truck down to Revmax was because if something happened; we were there to make it right. We went to get a hotel for the evening and get some dinner and planned to watch them install the solenoid pack in the morning.

The next morning we arrived at the install shop just before 8 and his truck was still sitting outside. We thought it would be a while for them to install the new solenoid pack. WRONG, the install shop owner had come in a little early and had already installed the solenoid pack, checked line pressures with the scan tool, drove the truck around the block a few times to make sure everything was shifting fine. We were ready to go!

We stopped and got a dozen doughnuts and drove over to Revmax's shop and watched the guys tear down my brothers stock 68. As suspected the overdrive clutches were shot. It was a real treat to watch them tear the trans apart! There were two other transmission's being tore down while we watched a guy tear down my brothers old 68 rfe. The table in front of (and facing) us had 6r140 torqshift being torn apart, and the table behind us; the Allison 1000 was being torn apart. It was awesome for us to see the inside of all three transmission's offered in today's trucks. The internals of the Allison are much larger than the 68 rfe, and the torqshift internals are larger than the Allison! That torqshift is a MONSTER!

I have to say a huge thanks to Tom at Revmax for everything. He was very helpful with all the questions we had before buying the transmission, showed us his facility, explained A LOT of things, answered a lot of questions, showed us the drag truck, and as you read above, had one of his guys tear down my brothers stock 68 in front of us. We thanked Tom for everything loaded the truck back up and came home.

My older brother is still breaking in the new 700, but so far it feels amazing! Very pleased with Tom and Revmax. I will try to update this thread as the trans get's broke in and my brother start's towing with it again. If anyone will put that 700 through it's paces, it is my older brother!

Phil/Anarchy Diesel - Your tow tune is UNREAL! I am guessing I had 16-17K behind my mega with the trailer and the dually sitting on it. Anyone familiar with I-77 coming from NC to VA knows there is long hard pull coming North on I-77 known as Fancy Gap. It is 5-6 miles long I am guessing and 6% grade. I pulled that mountain at 74 MPH with my foot on the floor, EGT's at 980-1000 degrees, 30-34 psi of boost, trans and coolant temps never moved a bit! I have the 3.42 in my truck to. What a beast this thing is! Long post, thanks for reading.

Good review, customer service is a lost art these days especially when spending that much money. Let us know how it's doing in a few days when the newness wears off. My buddy is shopping now for a built 68rfe and the concenses is Suncoast or Revmax.

Customer service sounds great. I've talked to Tom and Frank several times regarding the 700 and any potential issues upon receipt. I was assured that they don't send out any duds. Yikes.....?
Thankfully you went there and got it handled ASAP.
I sure hope nothing is wrong with mine when I receive it in California. I can't afford the down time an issue like that would create.

The faulty/defective solenoid pack mentioned by the OP, was probably something out of the hands of Revmax. The part may have come that way from their supplier.
I would feel confidant in the handiwork of Revmax's own people, and would think they will bend over backwards to support anything being shipped out.

Wouldn't RevMax have put it on test, with the solenoid pack installed,to pre-test pressure values and all the other parameters before sending out? I'm hope it's not just slap it together, send it out and assume it all functions properly. That would be irresponsible.

Great to hear. What kinda HP levels does your brother have and what does he tow?
He is running the H&S mini maxx and he runs it on the highest setting from the day he got it. I am guessing 450/900 ish? Not sure honestly because it's never been dyno'd. He tows his equipment around which consist of a John Deere mini 60G excavator, John Deere 333E skid steer, block, gravel, anything excavating really. Gooseneck is a 28' PJ that weighs in around 7500. Put a machine on the trailer, extra buckets, power rake, fuel cells, etc, he can get up to 25K pretty easy. He may or may not have had a John Deere 650K behind it a few times. :grin2: The stock trans took a hell of a beating for 50-55K miles before 5th&6th gear wouldn't hold because the clutches were shot. I cuss my 68 on a regular daily basis, but make no mistake, his took a absolute beating. He is just hard on things period. His 07 had 5 or 6 G-56 grenade, and a few NV 4500 blow apart after that. If anything and I mean anything has a weak point, he will find it. His John Deere Salesmen cringes when he calls I think.

They did help us out rather quickly when it happened. All there solenoid packs are tested before being installed. I don't really blame them although I could understand that some people would be frustrated.

They do test there stuff before sending it out. Things happen I guess.

I wouldn't worry about it. They move a lot of transmission's and I believe this was an isolated incident.

Ford makes the best transmission in the industry in my opinion. I wish i had a 6r140 behind my cummins.
You should see that monster in person! I love the way it shifts to. I have put some miles on a 6.7 powerstroke and that 6r140 is smooth, shifts awesome, and always in the right gear IMO.

Thanks for the feedback. I almost went with one of their Allisons when I had my duramax but had a somewhat local specialty shop go through it instead. I have read a lot of good things about revmax. Very few bad reviews. Thanks for Sharing

Talked to my brother yesterday and he finally did some towing with the new Trans. He said it amazing how the 700 performs. Quick crisp shifts, even when the TC isn't locked, it is getting the power to the real wheels; very little wasted energy. He had 22k ish behind him and said the trans never missed a beat. I guess the difference between a built trans and stock are pretty noticeable especially when towing. He said the trans almost feels like a standard transmission it is so responsive. I am anxious to tow with it myself of ride in it while towing.

Do you have any updates?
He has been working the transmission pretty regular towing equipment and such, and is still pleased with it. His only complaint is that he wished it would lock in second and stay locked up through the gears for towing, but it's not a major issue to him. Even unlocked the TC gets the power to the wheels efficiently. Fourth -Sixth gears are pretty ridiculous! It it doesn't shift locked, it feels like it, but its smooth, and it will really yank some weight around like most would't believe. That truck is tow monster with the 4:10 rears, tuning, and the Revmax. He can pull 23-25K with ease.

I honestly don't think you can beat Revmax for what they are. Tom is a top notch guy and they have a great thing going down there. I had my doubts about a 68 rfe built or not, but my mega will be getting a 700 soon.

If you have any specific questions or anything just let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

You can get the torque converter to lock and stay locked in second using the manual shift selector with tow haul engaged.
