1995 ram. 5.9L cummins.

i am going to be replacing the return line tomorrow. i think it is leaking.
i have searched this forum, looked at the pics here, searched through my factory service manual, but i still cant find out what this hose connects to ,or where it connects.
i removed the fuel filter, i see where it starts behind the filter, but where is the other end ?
thanks.

It attaches to a steel line from the tank a bit closer to the fire wall than you can see from above.

The other end is on the bell housing, you have to replace it by feel.
2' of 5/16" diesel rated hose is plenty. Don't trust the guy at the autoparts who says all fuel hose is compatible with diesel.
If you want to make it easier and more reliable abandon the entire stock system and replace it from engine to tank with hose. Takes about 12'-14' depending on your cab type.
