i replaced the pcm on a 2001 ram 24 valve and it sterts and dies as if there is a security system or fuel turn off circuit or something.i install the old pcm and it runs..this is the third pcm ive tried..has the exact part number as the origional..let me know if you have had this problem and what fixed it

Does the PCM program need to be flashed after it is installed?

If you’re talking PCM and not ECM I had to replace mine on my '99 about 4 months ago.
I searched the forums and talked to the dealer when I ordered it, but I couldn’t get a satisfactory answer on what needed to be done.
I finally determined that the PCM is pre programmed, however you need to merry it to your truck. I used a Snap On scanner to tell the new PCM my trucks vin#, once its done it cant be changed.
It worked fine after that, the dealer quoted $100 to do the same thing.

thought they need a vin input but wasn't sure thought it was too old to need a vin write...thanks.

i just unplugged mine tonight and remounted it if a different location and plugged the connectors back in and now im getting a no bus signal in the display? Whats going on
