the factory one works with the OEM fob works but, i'd go with an aftermarket. with the OEM/factory remote start if you have a CEL or get one the remote start will not work.

to answer your question, yes the aftermarket parts dudes at any dealer should be able to set you up.

I don't have a SMARTY so I cannot answer but, it will not work with a CEL at the time of startup.

While I can't assist in your specific query, I hope you get your system installed. I love my OEM remote start. In summer, the AC is already running and in winter, the seats and heater are already warming the cab.

Freaks some people out though to see these rigs start up with nobody behind the wheel.

Yes you can get the oem remote start. The unit is around $220.00 but it can be install by a do-it-your-selfer but it must be programed by dodge and in a certain sequence. So not worth doing it your self. The kit comes with two new Dodge fobs which must also be programmed. The dealer gave me a quote for $445. installed. From what I remember reading it may(or may not depending on my memory) activate the defroster. A good after market cost about this much but this one would be covered under warranty.

i would get a viper alarm/remote start, it works up to a mile away, has a tilt sensor (so someone can't jack your truck up and get your wheels), shock sensor, it gives feedback to the remote so it will tell you whats going on with your truck, and other options. I had one on my old truck and loved it

Had it dealer installed on my 09 auto dually at the time of purchase. Two new fobs/keys and works like a champ from a pretty good distance. Helpfull on those HOT Havasu days to have it cooled down when coming out of a store. I've also had the high idle option programed in at the time of J35. Tows 13K around great, mileage sucks (9.5-11) towing. Did experience when I used auto start in S. Dakota, a red GMC parked next to my truck also started up. Fluke or what, but if he didn't start his remotely at the same time as I, he probably was wondering WTF :shock:when he came out to his truck.:hehe::hehe:

I've had both on different rigs. Viper has some wicked alarms, but one bad experience with one and you can udnerstand why the OEM one looks more appealing.

Can't remember if I asked this before, can you hit the remote start button whiel the truck is running, and then remove the key and have the truck continue to run. I use that feature alot on my wifes car, and that could push me one way or another. Thanks.
I don't know about the OEM but I have the CompuStar Pro starter/alarm.You can take out the key while it's running, it's got the one mile range (on screen two way pager), programmable timer settings to start the truck on the days where theres know where to plug in and you can get it programed to enable the EB  The Viper works about the same except for the battery life on the remote is about a month and the CompuStar is about a year.

Never tried it, had no reason to. Normally when the key is turned on, it disables the auto start so I question if that would work. Next time I take the truck out, I'll have to try it. It generally only gets driven when it is towing and never have seen the reg in progress notice on the overhead since I bought it new 17,000 miles ago.
Oh, I use a key coupler that holds a key on both ends and if I need the other keys (house, tail gate, hitch) I just uncouple it and kick the truck on high idle.

I have the OEM "Mopar" remote starts on my 07 6.7 and put one on my Mom's 05 Grand Cherokee. They work fine no problems. The only feature it doesn't have that it should is the remove key and leave running (I take care of that with the edge's turbo timer)

In the summer I turn off the 30 sec wait to start option other wise your already to your truck by the time it starts.
