No input whatsoever?
As you wrote, it is prior to 1997 so it is smog exempt. You shouldn't have any issues with that part of the registration process. I can't comment on the status of the title and your bill of sale. Good luck.

Now do I have to get something from DMV for bill of sale? I just wrote one up that the guy signed.
the hand writen 1 should be fine take it too AAA if possible easier to get past .
I am not an AAA member but I'll check to see what their policy on this truck would be. It may be worth it just to have help with getting it registered smoothly.
I haven't signed up with AAA but from what I've heard about them and the burden they take off you with ca registration issues I should have.

it's a cake walk I went in with my paper work for my crewcab and walked out with my 85 crewcab reg as a 85 diesel :) piece of Cake .
We will see, the title comes in monday and my dmv appointment is right after.
i just reged a 93 in cali from Oregon . all I had to do was pay ,have Oregon title in hand ,and weigh the truck bnefore the reg or title was changed into my name .....word of advise try and keep the truck under 6000lbs. its cheaper on the reg , even if you have to weigh it a couple of times.or leave one tire half on the scale and half off.but try to get it under 6000lbs its cheaper ,,,,,,,,good luck
It is a reg cab 2wd so I cant imagine it being ove 6k.

Bill of sale, proof of insurance and get it weighed at a public scale. Moving companies have them or you can Google one in your area. $10 maybe.
Your use tax(sales tax) will be based on your sale price. Run it onto the scales minus tailgate, spare and have a minimum of fuel on it. Be sure and tell the scale people it's for DMV.
If you aren't already a member of AAA auto club, join as it's a bargain. You can then use their DMV service free.
No smog.
Reg Cab 2x4 it will be between 5 n 6000 for sure the second gen truck's have more Crap on them then a first gen does .

Excellent! Thank you very much for the info!
Weighed in at 5560. Couldnt pull the spare because it looked like the end of the shaft that goes into the winch thing was broken and didnt want to catch hold of anything. Pulled the tailgate off, I do have 265 cooper discoverers on it as well.
Weight fee for 6600# is $204 for 2013. So you'll be considerably less than that.
You should crank out some good fuel economy #'s with 2wd and 265's.
Thats the plan, its got 3.55's as well. Im going to school for a Heavy Equipment Technician so once I get the transmission squared away the "build" will begin.
I had to replace the tire winch on my 2nd gen. At the time they were available from the dealer for $75 retail. I doubt if they are still available or if the 3rd gens are adaptable.
