What type does Dodge put in our trucks? I went from 265 to 285 tires.... how far can I drive on that 265 as a spare tire before burning the clutch pack, or am I OK with what they put in our rear diff? Anyone fit a 285 under the truck where the 265 used to go?

I fit a 33x12.50R17 in place of the factory 265 spare.

These trucks do not have 'posi'. They have a limited slip differential in the rear. And they don't have clutches, they use helical gear.

Can't say for certain that it would do damage. But I'd never try to mix those sizes.

I've never worried about it. Could be a problem with a true locker and several miles, but I doubt it with the OE LS. I never bother to up-size spares and have rarely needed them anyway.

LS won't be a probem to get to a garage to fix it.

I have a 35/12.5/17 under there, nice and tight.
