Rear Leaf Springs on their way out!! Kore, Lorenz...?

1326 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  firemansdiesel
My truck doubles as a DD and my work/business truck (please see sig 98.5...). The rear leaf springs are losing their arch from carrying around bricks, and stones etc. I cannot get a clear answer from anyone, as to how the Kore, Carli, Lorenz type sytems will affect both load carrying and towing capacities. I can't load my truck and have the headlights pointing to the moon. Can anybody give me a straight answer on this? Was thinking the Lorenz 5100 system. Not really interested in the lift, but if I am going to spend the money... What would you do?

It's my understanding that all the replacement rear leaf packs cause you to lose capacity while improving the unladen ride tremendously. The mini-paks from Lorenz and Carli should leave your capacity intact. My Kore mini-paks definitely weakened my capacity on my '99. They've probably beefed them up by now. Contact the manufacturer's directly.
Add air-bags on it for when you are carrying a load.

x2, air bags will do the trick. No matter what type of leafs are in the back. Heavy loads will sag the rear.

Now if you want a better ride. Then get a full leaf replacement from Carli and air bags. You will be set to go.

For your question about going w/ Carli/KORE/Thuren/lorenz rear leaf set up. The mini leafs will give you the same as the factory tow/haul rating (so if you haul/tow a lot then get these). If you have the dough to spend. The full leafs will sag a little more than the mini leafs (more of a 1/2 ton capacity), but w/ air bags you will be good to go.
