Hello guys, first time posting on the forum here and boy am i glad I found this place. So much helpful stuff it's crazy! Now to the topic, I have an 06 megacab 2500 4x4 and I have notice the rear leafs don't have an overload setup like my 2005 3500 srw 4x4 qc. I am looking to set up my truck to tow a 12000lb trailer and am and going to need some sort of ride level control. I don't really care for the air bag setup because it seems to effect the ride and I don't wand to do that. Has anyone ever just got some junkyard parts off a 3500 for the overload stuff? I am thinking it should be fairly easy but figured I should ask about it. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Zach

this is the plus to the air bags for sure but they also for sure diminish ride quality. so, if you want to keep your ride intact, Timbrens are a good way to accomplish this. you could look to find a factory 3500 overload setup to install but that may be more of a pita then necessary.

back in the day when I ran firestones, I would always leave the bottom mount at the leaf pack unhooked then throw in the bolts as I loaded the trailer. this way they were not involved in day to day driving. at std ride height unhooked, those bags would sit 4 inches above the leaf pack and it was a bear to get them to stretch down that way to bolt, usually just did it while loading the weight, so you can see immediately how much they are involved and limit movement.
