Hello, thank for your your interest and hopefully assistance. Have a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup, 6.7 cummins, manual trans. 60k miles, all stock otherwise though previous owner left me with a smarty JR (us version). Physically deleted the air intake valve, egr system via block plates, and dpf and nox via down pipe, cat remains in place. Have ran for 2 months throwing exhaust codes. My goal for the truck is not hp gains or really even mpg, it’s more about extending the life of the engine. Seeing the soot inside the intake solidified my decision to delete. However I’ve received conflicting info on tunes. I’ve had two shops tell me the single efi live delete/stock power tune they install ($450) is not good for the engine and both have recommended the 5 tune with switch ($900). I don’t want to get robbed, seems it would make more sense to buy race me ultra, Ppei, or anarchy mercenary (all around $1,000). Any advice would be appreciated. I understand H&s went out of business and smarty doesn’t do delete codes any longer. I worry about a company remaining in business given the epa position on legality of the business.

The cheapest way would be to run a RaceME JR which is basically the same thing as a delete capable smarty jr. I would consider putting a whole new exhuast on, i personally prefer Flo-Pro. I've ran their systems on several trucks and the hangers and hardware are top notch. You can get it with a muffler, which i personally recommend in a 4 inch system as it's not that much louder then stock, but sounds good. Stay away from H&S unless you plan on getting custom tunes, how they did the tuning on their devices wasn't the best and adjusting the tune without adjusting other parameters leads to head gasket failures. I would highly recomend Anarchy EFI live, and doing it yourself. Don't pay the shop to do it, you don't need the 5 tunes if you just want a tune. Call them and talk to Phil, he's a great guy and can answer all of your questions. Or send him a message on here @3brorce But i will say calling or emailing is the best bet, as i know his PMs on this forum can get pretty full sometimes. He can get you setup for the tuning side of things, i'm not sure if the cat will cause any issues, but he will know. It would also be highly beneficial to have the actual codes handy in case one of them is not delete related

You should be able to get away with just a single tune. Call up Phil @3brorce over at Anarchy and he can get you sorted out and answer any questions. If there are any codes currently present on the truck have them ready to tell him, as some might not pertain to a delete

I just installed a MCC tune on my mini maxx from 3brorce. Love the new tuning. Power is smooth. The rattle that I assume was the cp3 is virtually gone. Cant comment on any mpg increase yet. Would reccomend those guys to anyone.

Nothing wrong with running a single stock delete tune, $450 for it is a bit steep. Sounds like the shops want to just sell what brings in more $$$. If all you want is a single stock delete tuning I’ll sell you an MM3 one for less. The MM3 which is a product designed by Smarty Performance King and near identical to the Smarty Touch handles deletes just fine. I run it on my 2012. Other option is EFI Live. Nothing wrong with either of the MM3 or EFI Live.

I have all the smarty Jr ME delete files. I have a 12 as well. Fully deleted. I run the economy tune and it serves me well. I tow heavy and never change the tune. Much lower EGTs.

You can load the software I have onto a US version smarty and use it to delete. That's what I did.

If you want the files PM me and I can send them to you. They are X - stock (no delete) , 0-stock (deleted) , 1 - 40HP timing only, 2-tow 70HP timing and duration, and 3 - performance 100 HP more timing and more duration.

EFI may or may not be better but these are FREE!! I love the driveability change and throttle response even on the economy tune. Let me know if you want them. I even have the older software versions but I run the newest one for no smoke at all.
