Anyone have any brands of light bars that are well made? Or anyone ever have luck with an eBay special? I think it's ridiculous what a rigid light bar cost, I feel like tour just paying for the brand name!
Many companies claim high output but when tested, fall well short of advertised. Is there a difference in light output of the cheap bars are the same wattage and what not as the name brand? I am the same way but once and forget about it but I’m mainly just using it for when I drive at night on the country roads or when I’m going snowmobiling up north!
My light bar came with tamper proof allen screws and a special allen wrench to install it. Tamper proof torx are your best bet if it comes with regular hardware, or just find a way to weld it to the truck lol
Thanks for that I will have to check that out!My light bar came with tamper proof allen screws and a special allen wrench to install it. Tamper proof torx are your best bet if it comes with regular hardware, or just find a way to weld it to the truck lol
Where did you get the mounting bar for the round lights? Those type of deep reflector light always have amazing throw. I might swap over to those.Between my brother and I, we have had about 20 or so different cheaper bars from kawell, riorand, auxbeam, northern lights, no names, extreme LED, etc on our trucks, cars, ATV's. They all worked well for 2 to 3 years and then most of them started to exhibit condensation issues and yellowing of the lens. A couple of the auxbeam ones had a moisture vent on the back and they never have had moisture inside of them but the lenses have yellowed and the black powder coat has faded substantially. A couple of my buddies have rigid and they aren't very good IMO, not much brighter and they have had condensation issues as well. Our climate in northern canada with tons of freeze thaw cycles, -40° in the winter is probably hard on these lights though.
My father in law has a set of baja designs LP9's and they are absolutely amazing! The quality and brightness and color temperature of the LEDs is far beyond the cheaper brands. He can use them on his kenworth, driving logging roads for 4-6 hours every night 5-7 days of the week during the winter and for that kind of use the baja designs lights are worth every penny.
For my use on back roads using them for maybe an hour or 2 every week, the cheaper ones do just fine. I have found that the bigger the reflector and higher the power the led, the brighter the bar is. My JGL lights have been my favourite, and if you are willing to put on round driving lights instead of a bar then these are the best I've used:
I have 4 of these lights installed on my truck and they beat out my last setup of a 42" 240w curved auxbeam and a 32" light bar 320w with 5w leds. The big reflector and 25w chip shine light a lot further. The lenses and housings are better constructed and they come with legit deutsch plugs on them as well. For $46 a pair plus shipping they have been my best light purchase this far. I did put 3m ppf on the lenses to help protect them a little better.
I went with rough country and couldn't be happier.Anyone have any brands of light bars that are well made? Or anyone ever have luck with an eBay special? I think it's ridiculous what a rigid light bar cost, I feel like tour just paying for the brand name!
