Hey all. We are wanting to install a 6" lift in the 93 w250. I've seen too many trucks with off center rear axles and such. What is a good kit, that is no BS, and no misalignment issues? Also, will i need to do longer driveshafts & brakwlines on this ols girl....? Oh, and what do you reccomend for a good sound steering setup. The truck is a daily driver.
Thanks
Pat

I have a 6" lift n love it, got a buddy he's also on here cumminshp hes got the same lift n both are made by skyjacker. Uh Your front driveshaft needs to be lengthened or a 80's chevy front shaft. Some people go crossover others do a drop pitment arm n adjustable track bar with steering stabilizers.

Depends on what you want to spend.

Lift springs = either Deaver or Alcan.
Shocks = Bilstein.
Steering = Offroad Design
Brake Lines = Local Hydro shop or Skyjacker

I've used products from the above companies on several different trucks and never had a problem with any of their products. Great service and quality products.

I dont know where you are getting your SkyJacker stuff but $2K is WAY too much. I will agree Alcans are better but National Tire and Wheel will be much cheaper than $2K on the SkyJacker Kit...

Thanks guys. Out of curiosity, what the heck causes the rear axle to move so far forward when these trucks see bigger lifts? It can't be good, plus, it looks like hell. I assume having the correct lift springs would cure that?

Well we gotta keep the pinion angle close to stock as possible. so lift leafs generally come with a wedge shaped piece under the main leafs to keep the angle close to stock so that may make things look like the diff is farther forward then it is.

I think alot of the trucks you are seeing with the rear axle too far forward are lifted using a shackle flip, which does lift the truck up to 6-7 inches.But if you use the Chevy lowering shackles like alot of people do, It drops the rear spring eye way farther than the front in turn pushing the axle forward.You will gain 6" of lift but it does push the axle forward unless you lower the spring evenly.

No matter what lift you use, your truck will feel like a different truck, a lifted truck does Handle, Brake and steer differently just keep that in mind.

That they do but it's easy to get used to. My 93 brakes better then my 90 ever did even with replacing 3/4 of the braking system. But sway bars are gonna be your friend if you lift it.

Thanks guys. My brother ( it's actually his truck) is mixed on lifting it, because of some negative feedback here. I say, if we do it right ( spring lift, good shocks, crossover steering) that it'll be great. Especially because he wants to run 20's on it. I say the big gnarly 35-37's with all that sidewall, on a 16-17 rim, is half the battle with crap road manners. I think, if we do it right, it'll run down the road, as good or better than stock.
