I have a 2000 6 speed. the truck has 68,000 on it so it is pretty pampered. I currently have a Banks Power Pack on it that I installed the day I brought it home in December of 1999. I have had intermittent problems with it from early on. Connections have been checked. Box reflashed by Banks, etc. When it work, it works well, but when you are pulling a hill with a trailer on and your truck turns into a CASE backhoe instantly, it get frustrating. So, I am looking at putting a more modern tuner on it and I think I have it narrowed down to these two.

I am trying to decide which one and I need help form people in the know.

I called Mars electronics (makers of the Smarty) and I was less then impressed. I am not being sexist, but the girl that answered the phone really scared me. She wouldn't get anyone else and she could not answer anything. All she said was I would get 90 hp. I mean, she really could not answer anything else. I don't want to make a rash decision because I have heard good things about the Smarty.

I also called Quadzilla and I left my name and number for Tech to call me back. He did call me back later in the day. The guy answered my questions, but I am still on the fence. He told me it is 180 hp gain.

Can someone PLEASE help?
Thanks,
Jamie

quad you can adjust on the fly where smarty you cannot and quad gives you gauges you need for less than the smarty.

also look at the edge juice with attitude.

i went with quad for the extra power over the edge but the edge is a great box.

make sure you have a good lift pump though!! (FASS, AIR Dog, Raptor)

if your not looking for huge power, i would consider the edge EZ. i had it before the quad and it was a great little box, about 65 hp.

The advertised power you'll see from Smarty on a VP truck is 65, and the advertised power you'll see from the ADR is 180HP. If your going for power and fun with the gauges included I would go with the ADR over the Smarty, for the year I ran the Smarty I had wished I spent the $685 elsewhere. If you want a simple plug and play system you can run the Comp box which is a simple install and simple use but requires gauges, it's what I run and I love the smooth power it adds.

I already put the big FASS lift pump / filter setup on the truck, so we are good there. I am looking for the most power. My buddy has an edge juice on his and to be honest, I wasn't too impressed.

What about bumping the injectors up?

What about the QUAD boost fooler in addition to the adrenaline box? I am looking for as much power as I can get without hurting driveability.

Oh, I also want to CRUSH my Buddy's truck with the edge box on it. I am doing this on the QT and not telling anyone. I am planning on leaving the Banks big head waste gate actuator on it, the Banks 4" exhaust and Banks high ram intake.

I truly appreciate everyone's feedback here. Please keep it coming.

If your looking for the most power go ahead and forget the smarty. I have the comp box and like it for how simple it is. But I have gauges on my a-pillar

Banks is junk. Comp drag box, big sticks, 62mm charger, fuel pressure gauge, can't go wrong. What does your buddy have modded on his truck?

He just has an edge juice box.

When I bought the truck, there was not near the amount of stuff available then as now. the way I look at it is I might as well keep the Banks hard parts on the truck as they are better than stock. The banks kit came with an exhaust side of the turbo that is different than the stock piece. I realize that Banks isn't the answer now. That is why I am changing. I want to crush him, not just beat him. I want him to sh1t himself when he rides in the truck.

Is his truck an auto or manual?

Edge juice W/AT (for gauges) or edge comp drag box, manual gauges,100-150 sticks. Plan on a bigger turbo in the future. Fuel pressure gauge for sure. You can also do the Quad ADR and have a little more, but it's to finicky for me. You can stack a smarty with any of them and have a little more fun and be able to read and clear codes and change speedo with tires size changes.

Go with the quad adr.Incredible bit of kit and you can download different tunes from their website as well.

Hey guys, OP said he wants to "CRUSH" his friend's truck. He will need more than just a Quad Adr to do that. They are both hand shakers, so it also comes down to who drives and shifts the best.

Well,
I'm not sure I can swing a new turbo right out of the shoot. I can do injectors though. Anyone have anything to say about running the Quad boost fooler in addition to the adrenaline box?

You don't need a boost fooler if you are running the Adrenaline. Adrenaline does that already.

With the Banks setup you have tuner exhaust and air filter correct?....keep the exhaust and ditch everything else....you said you have FASS set up correct?....get some new injectors 100hp or less without a turbo upgrade....Edge Comp is a really good box but if you don't have gauges go Quad to save some cash....I would put a CAI..like S&B or BHAF...you should be happy with that...oh yeah put a boost elbow on it and you should be ready to rock....clutch upgrade soon after all of that

The Banks came with exhaust, intake, exhaust side turbo housing with modified waste gate actuator and the electronics box. The truck currently will pull 34 lbs of boost if I am hauling. Unloaded, it will usually pull 30 lbs. My plan was to keep the hard parts and yank the electronics and build from there. It seems like injectors and the quad adrenaline box are the way to go. I can upgrade the turbo down the road a bit if I have to have more.
