Diesel conversion specialists sells a crank trigger tach.

I believe you need to buy a gauge and a kit that uses the crank as a pickup.

My buddy had to do this same thing last year and the kits are expensive which sucks

The 12v's tach's run off the CPS/ESS on the front of the engine. You could use a Tinytach they read fuel line pulses, been using them in my 2 Conversions.
