My pump recently started leaking so im gonna tackle that project this weekend. Im only gonna replace the throttle shaft seal and top seal because i know thats where fuel is coming from. But i have a feeling the the head is leaking so i might have to pull the pump and replace that seal as well.
___My question is, if i remove the pump, when i snug the set bolt on the side after removing the washer to lock the pump shaft in place, when i go to re-install, i dont have to put the motor at top dead center right? I just slide everything back together as it was ?

You bring the engine to tdc using the pin before you lock the pump up. Then remove the pin. Before you reinstall ensure that you are still at tdc again using the pin.

You can do it as you suggest as long as the engine doesn't get turned. If engine got turned for some reason you would have no way of getting it back to exactly where it was when you removed the pump. If you do it at tdc you can always bring it back.

But won't you have to unlock the pump to replace the seals?
