I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out the problems im having with my truck.Here is how it all started,this morning got in it to go to work started right up and ran fine.I got to work shut it off and it sat for about 10 min,then i fired her back up and it took a little longer than normall and the exhaust sounded like the motor was skipping on a clynder.The truck was hardly shaking but i could tell it was skipping a little bit.I didnt have time to monkey with it and i parked it.when i went to leave i fired it up and it blew out a bunch of white smoke and this time the truck was rlly shaking,but its only missing on 1 cylinder and i think its the #1 because its manifold was cooler to the touch than the rest of them.I had about a 1/4 tank in it so i went and put some fuel in it.drove away mind you its still skipping and its blowing a good amount of black smoke.i got into it a bit the smoke cleared up,but it was still skipping.I drove it hard for about five miles and i pulled over and it had stoped skipping.so i babied it home so i could check it out more,and my number 1 fuel line is pulsing way more than the rest.My blowbye is the same as it always has been and it completely stopped skipping.I have a little haze at idle but the same amount ive always had.I let it sit for an hr and fired it back up and its seems to be running fine no skipping but the injectors seem to be a bit louder.Whats going on with my truck is it time for new injectors?and should i park it before i ruin the motor?thanks And im sorry for my life story,just didnt want to leave any info out. i also pulled,two codes from my truck and they are p2149 p2146

sounds like a partially stuck injector, or cracked one. look at the oil and see if it smells like diesel, or if it is overly full. did you get any codes? do you know how to check for codes?

right before i bought the truck it was having injector issues.And i helped the dealer track down the problem,and we went through all the wiring and every thing was good. but while my truck was skipping today,i unplugged my injector plugs to try and track down the main problem.will doing this cause those codes? because they didnt come up till i did that..i also got these codes after doing that,p0205 p0202 p0203 p0204 p0206 p0201


I'd say you may be having electrical issues. Check the wiring harness to the injectors. Be sure your batteries are in good "charged" condition. Check all grounds for good contact.


P2146-BANK 1 (CYLINDERS 1-3)
SHORTED HIGH OR LOW

P2149-BANK 2 (CYLINDERS 4-6)
SHORTED HIGH OR LOW.

no fuel in my oil as of yet....and i do no how to check for codes

that would do it. You need to clear them if you can. Once you do, crank it and idle to see if it sets any other codes. There's also a fitting you can get for a injector cut out test to help narrow it down. Cummins sells it.

you can pull codes by turning the key on/off 3 times with in 15 seconds then back to on. Watch the odometer and write down the codes. You really need to clear what's there first

I tride to clear them by holding the reset buttin in while turning the key on.it says it cleared them but they are still all there :confused013:

find someone with a smarty they can clear them for you!

Or find someone with a $50 Auto Zone, Advance or Harbor Freight scanner and it will do it too. Better yet, go buy one and you won't have to find someone.

yesturday after it started to act up again,so i took it to auto zone so they could clear the codes.But they wouldnt clear them because there is 10,000$ fine if they do..But any way i drove it about 20 miles to a shop,and when i got there all was fine again.I had them clear every thing,and nothing hasnt come back up yet.but im hoping that when it acts up again it will tell me whats going on.

i got fartin around with it today after work.I hadit idleing in t drive way,got undernieth it. and i played wit the cps and the wires tristing them i played with the cps wires over by the oil filter pinching and twisting them.nothing happend,so i climbed up top and played with the wires coming out of the ecm,injector conectors,pinching and twisting from the plug to the ecm and still nothing happend.But i did notice that there was an intermeidate lope in the exhaust note.I bliped the go peddle a couple times and the lope went away all to gether.the truck had been idling for about 10 min when the lope appeard.Still no new codes and oil levle is fine and dosnt smell like fuel.but it still is hazing at idle and a couple injectors are a little louder than the rest.i dont no whats going on.:confused013:

the dealer can hook ur truck up to a Chrysler scan tool and check your injector maybe i would suggest going that rout

Did you ever figure out your problem? I currently have the same #1 injector line pulsing and threw a P2146 code once. Pretty much on every start up the truck idles rough and blows white smoke. I have flux 2.5 injectors with less than 6k miles. They were also went over by Don 3k miles ago. I have an arson III cp3 upgrade. Anyone have any suggestions. i also just put brand new yellow top batteries in it. Thanks
