I pull a 8.5x20 enclosed landscape trailer, loaded it's about 7,500-8,000 lbs.

Would you buy gas or diesel?

You'd be a fool not to buy a diesel!

You are going to get nothing but biased answers...But the question is yours, 14mpg(diesel) or 8mpg(gas)?

Gas=Gutless
Diesel=Power and fun and black smoke and love

I would go diesel all the way but I am not a big fan of gassers. Get a CUMMINS and you will love it.

I'm sure I will be getting another diesel, I just wanted to see what others thought about the weight I'm pulling. I have had some people say I don't need a diesel for what I'm pulling, but I agree with the mpg.

Anyway a diesel is more fun to drive. :thumbsup

Thanks

Also my brother has a V!0 and he can pass anything but a gas station. His best is 11 mpg down hill with a tail wind.

I would say totally up to you .Do you wanna hear the gasser roar as it tryes to stay and a steady rpm or do you wanna watch the tach as you cruise up the hill like nothing is behind you ? in MHO go Diesel to this day i have not found a hill range in calif that my truck will do less then 70+ towing

Diesel is the only way to go for regular towing. MPG's are way better and in this day and time that's the biggest factor.

A gasser could do it...but we are a little biased here I would go with a diesel!:thumbsup

i had a 5.3L (gas) silverado and the couple times I towed it was like 11mpg and 15 empty. I've now got a 5.9L Cummins and I get 16 empty and like 15 the couples times i've been towing. Both were around the same weight. Go diesel if you're going to tow consitently but if you're going to do more empty than towing, weigh your consequences more carefully.

Gas or Diesel?

Are you going to be getting a new truck?
If so the cost of the diesel needs to be factored in. How many miles will you be driving? In the mountains or level ground?
The cost of diesel over gas.
Just my 2 cents

I had the same truck before. I did the math. Even though gas is cheaper by the gallon, it is more expensive per mile to run a gasser(assuming you get better mileage in your CTD). Diesel all the way!!! That's why I have a CTD :thumbsup

I would say my truck has a trailer behind it about 80% of the time. I filled up my 04 diesel last wed, and again this tues. That's about normal for this time of the year. So I guess with a gasser I would get to know the folks at flying J on a 1st name basis.

I guess I have answered my on question. :lol3:

I've got a 8.5x20 enclosed trailer myself for my painting business. I had a Gasser for a few years and hated getting 7 MPG. Tho I hate filling my diesel for 4.30 per gallon

I don't know about you.. but I have killed to many gas trucks pulling trailers. I have burned up 4 trannies, 2 motors, and a rearend. They just don't have the power to get it done with loads on. The torque is what makes the difference in towing. So you can buy a gas truck every 2 years or get a diesel that will last you 6+years. JMO
