I am debating on getting a new 2022 2500 or going with a used 2020 or newer 2500. What are the pros and cons of each. What would be considered good mileage on a used 2500? With new I like the idea of the factory warranty in case anything goes wrong but prices are nuts on new trucks. Help me decide.

As you can see in my signature, I have a 2021. Got it new in April 2021 and have loved it so far. Nothing major, grid heater relay recall and am taking it in this Friday for the two current recalls. I have 18K miles on mine. Tow my 34’ TT and farm equip/ATV with various utility trailers. Been really pleased. I think the problem you’re gonna run into, at least in my area is the newer used trucks will be as much as you can get a new one. Prices are crazy for new and used. I newer used truck will still be under warranty. I’d say go with a new one, you know what you’re getting and there’s not much difference in price for a newer used one.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. That is pretty much my thinking. However I have seen a few trucks that are about 10-15k used 2500’s, under 20k miles, cheaper than new that have more options than the new ones. But I hear ya on going new. I’m leaning towards new but some what open to used if everything lines up.

When I was looking for a newer truck I saw that I could get a brand new truck for a few thousand dollars more then used so I went with new, buying new I know how its driven and taken care of, when I saw new trucks with 3-8K miles for sale I would wonder why they were getting rid of it so soon, you never know if it was a repo or they bought more truck then needed or who knows what...

I am leaning towards new but the prices are absolutely crazy. Just moved back to the states so I don’t have a trade in and don’t really wanna put 20%+ down to have a decent payment. Plus with diesel prices where they are I may have to wait to see what the market does. Used around here can be just as much as new.
