As the title says, i gave up on the idea of trying to fit the factory upfitter switches in my sister’s 2021 Ram. I researched on how to do it for the past few years, but i kept hitting dead ends. The problem is with the rather large infotainment system, and not being able to fit the factory upfitter switches where the current switches are located.
After months and months of google searching other ideas and options, i couldn’t find anything that sparked my eye. A couple months ago my sister’s truck was over at my place, so i got to measuring what sort of switches could be installed...ANYWHERE. It turns out that a 5 gang Carling snap in switch panel will juuuuuuust fit where there’s a little cubby hole in the lower dash. The cubby must be removed and then the height of the opening will have to be slightly raised up. The width of the factory hole is a pinch too wide for the switch panel, but the flange on that panel will barely just cover the hole!
Here’s a random pic of what my sister’s dash look like...
It was difficult to finagle out the little cubby hole. Once the cubby was removed, i used a Fein tool to enlarge the hole to the exact dimensions.
