Moved to the general diesel discussion forum.

i saw around 15 avg with just an edge ez, and with my smarty i see around 17avg. Yes a chip will help as well as strait piping and an intake. and as goes for diesel prices...nobody knows.
i get almost 17mpg with an edge ez in town and a bit over 21 on the freeway at 75 mph.
regarding diesel, i doubt it will ever go down, they now know we'll pay what they're charging, so why would they let it go back down?
I get 21mpg going to work and home which is 90% freeway and 10% city driving..

I run an Edge Juice with attitude amongother things.. Diesel price below gas? Na probably not ever again...
Diesel has finally dropped below regular up here (and over a long weekend of all things!) It's only $4.66 a gal. now and the regular is $4.77. Minor I know, but lower none the less. I hope its a trend that continues and it should according to the bs they fed us about diesel being more due to increased demand over the winter for home heating fuel. No more winter should = lower prices. How much though is anybodys guess.
diesel is $4.60 here and reg gas is $3.75
yeah diesel is 4.72 here and regular gas is 3.75
In my 02 i get average of 20. But that is with it set on cruise on 55. Minimal city mostly hwy till i get to work. The instant eco thing says at 55 im getting 27 mpg. I just bought the truck but that just doesnt seem stock to me. Its straight piped with stock exuast just a pipe put in place and from what i can tell a oem replacement K&N. Do yall think its programmed at all?

With a change of driving habits you can hit 22-23 MPG...

272.0 Miles on the trip and just a little over a 1/4 tank used...:thud:

MPG = Instant MPG Reading
MPH = Miles Per Hour (Speed)
Cmg = Today MPG Reading
Tmg = Total MPG for the tank

I'm getting 16 to 17 mpg/diesel.

In Pleasonton Ca, Diesel, last Friday at a Shell station was $5.09, today $4.99.

Somebody is getting rich off my money.

What kind of 2 cycle oil do you use? I am currently using "power service" attitive for the ulsd. I am thinking of using 2 cycle... Damm, you are getting Great mileage! I am currentyl getting an average of 18.5 on my daily commute. Here in Hawaii diesel is averages about 4.70 a gallon... Red stuff - about 3.30 gallon :thud:
I filled up last night for $153.65

New Meadows, ID $4.799
Riggins, ID $4.769

Well half you problem is Hawaii is so small of a island that your driving short distances. Like maybe 10 miles at the most? Right?

That my problem here locally. It takes me over 6-8 miles to just get warmed up with my pyrometer floating at 550-600*F at 55 MPH. By the time I hit Riggins, ID (15 miles total drive) I've only been warmed up for 7-8 miles. Then it sits again. Well during the warm up period you got everything fighting you. (gear lube, trans fluids, transfer case, enging oil, etc).

So like last night I was up at Station 2 working on fire trucks. The station 2 is 10 miles from home (up hill). My total MPG for that trip hurt... (8 MPG) Basically 5 miles down the highway (cold engine) then start climbing a 10-12% dirt road at 15 MPH... Then shutdown at the station near the top...

So to make up for this if I find downhill runs I try my hardest to coast down all my downhill segments I can. When you do this the injection pump (vp44) or CR is shutdown no fuel is injected at all.

So like when I left the station I try my best to coast down the grade and much as possible to gain back the loss on the hill. I at least double my MPG again back to 16 MPG which is at least in the ball park...

As for the PS you might want to read up on fuel additives at my web page...
2 Cycle Oil
Once again I'm not suggestion 2 cycle oil. But you might look at other posibilities out there than PS since it fail the HFRR testing...:thud:

had heard a rumour about the 2 cycle oil helping with fuel economy. So it isn't crap???? Really works?
whatever... im getting a bike

If properly you should see at least a 1 MPG gain. The rest of mine is driving habits and speed changes that boost me right up to 21-23 MPG.

For the 2 cycle you NEED to mix it at 128:1 ratio. Don't guess and add just 1 quart every time. Actually do the math and add the proper dose at fueling time. So if you put 20 gallons of fuel in you need 20 ounces of oil. If you just put 5 gallons in you need 5 ounces of oil. Basically 1 ounce of oil for every 1 gallon of fuel.

I've been running 2 cycle oil now for 2 year and nearly 40K miles and never had a lick of problems or bad fuel mileage cause from it...
