The 68rfe is a great transmission in my opinion with a stock powerplant in front of it.
Things to look for. Interior water damage due to third brake light leaking. I had this issue. Water was running down the back and puddling under the back seat. Had another leak on a body joint also which caused mold and other issues which was all repaired under warranty. If your going go leave it stock and want better fuel economy then go 2013 or later. The DEF equipped trucks pull down better fuel milage. Test drive a 2012 or earlier then drive a 2013 or later. You may not like the torque management that causes a dead pedal feel on the later model Ram truck.
Either way you go, the 4th Gen is light years ahead of the 09 and earlier Dodge.
