Ok so the other day drove my truck around parked it and the next when i went out to my truck notice a line stain of fluid on the ground. got underneath the truck and looked and smelled the fluid and its steering fluid. and it ran from i believe the steering gear box onto the sway bar and dripped along from there. now i really could not see any wet spots above the gear box so i dont think its the pump or lines. the only place i could what i think it may be leaking from is the pitman shaft (believe thats the correct term). Is there a seal of some sort for that shaft?
Is there a way to narrow down this leak/troubleshooting techniques?
Advice would be great
Thanks

naw, if the leak is that obvious then you need to just go ahead and fix it right. besides you will sleep better knowing you did it right instead of bein lazy. seals arnt that bad.

the dodges of are year models are nitorius for the seals going out on the power steering pump. my seals went out and it was the bottom one where the big nut is on the bottom. it took me like 20 mins to change it and the seal was like 5 bucks at autozone

Yeap mine does it too. Not as bad as yours though. Gotta figure out which seal is leaking so that I can replace it. I hate leaking trucks.

It is the seal on the bottom of the gear box. When the bearing gets worn it allows the shaft to move instead of the tires and it tears up the seal. A new seal will only last for a little bit unless you get a steering brace. Even with a new gear box it will wear out real fast. Get the new seal, and a brace and it wont happen again.
