Anyone ever use or hear of these Powergrip carriers? I know some people aren’t a fan of the factory limited slips in these trucks so wondering if this would be equivalent or better.

Dana 70 Powergrip Posi LSD 4.10-DN 32 Spline - Ron's Machining Service

I’ve ordered from RMS in the past so I’m not worried about the company at all just questioning the carrier. It’s an Eaton style clutch carrier and I verified with them it will work in the Dana 70u disc brake axle I have. Pus I can get it at cost if I run it through my business account.

I haven't heard much negative about the factory unit? They can be setup and aggressive as you want them. Add a clutch plate and play around with how much slip modifier.

I ordered the powergrip from RMS and it is actually a Youkon Duragrip limited slip carrier at half the price, even came right in Youkon box! This will work perfectly in my disc brake axle and work very well for my setup. Looking forward to getting some time to rebuild this axle. Just need to order the new brake parts and new axle hub bearings.

I really have no interest in a locker for my truck mostly since I daily it and it’s a glorified pavement princess. The only time I leave the road is hunting in the fall. My first truck had the Youkon limited slip carrier and I have installed 2 for friends a couple years ago. Never an issue and always worked well.

Its your truck but you're swapping out a LS carrier for another LS carrier. The inherent problems and issues will be the same over time as most LS carriers are perfectly fine and adequet for most driving conditions. Why LS carriers stop working is because people rarely change their differential fluid which eventually wears the clutches out. Those who do change their diff fluid fail to put the correct friction modifier back in and the clutches either chatter or slip so much they dont do anything.

Plus people dont understand that LS carriers work by torque applied and the static pressure is quite low. So taking aggressive U-turns or have a heavy foot while turning (especially towing) then the LS clutches are under pressure but forced to slip.

Its understood that you can pull out the stock carrier and replace all the clutch packs, and stack them in a manner which allows for more aggressive friction. If you buy an aftermarket LS carrier you'll have to pay someone to install it because you cant just pull out yours, bolt on the ring gear, and reinstall. It must be shimmed correctly otherwise it wont last long...

eh shimming isnt hard to do, just takes time. i was confused as to the end goal of the post since ours have a traclock in them factory and it seemed a sidegrade to swap out like this. thats why i suggested a detroit or torsen. i just replaced my clutches last year and it makes it much more responsive on lockup but looking into those torsen style... i really want to try them so i think im going to replace my traclock when it wears out.
