need some ideas.
what i have.
1st gen 5.9
Saginaw pump,
hydro boost
stock steering box.

history.
started out with no issues.
this winter at start up when below freezing.
i could not turn the wheel. after less than 30sec steering worked fine.
a couple of weeks ago, it started steering hard after idling down to stop.
now at idle it will steer easy to the right and very hard to the left.

low power assist in the cold is typical of a high viscosity fluid. Synthetic ATF helps big time, though still not 100% when it gets real cold.

Your issue with only power to one side, is the steering box, more-so the valve. Either the valve has failed or their is something in the fluid that is stuck in the valve not allowing it to function in one direction.

Either way, you current issue is in the box.
