The truck:
2011 4x4 6 spd manual 41,000 miles
H&S XRT Pro, dpf delete and egr unplugged but not deleted. It's been deleted for almost 2 years and has always been run on "street/tow" tune. No real problems until now.

The problem:
In 5th or 6th gear, if I give it more than half throttle around 1500 rpm and let accelerate, right around 1700-1800 rpm the power drops out for a second or so out and rpms fall about 200 rpm, then it picks right back up and continues accelerating like normal. It causes a good surge or jolt to the truck when this happens.
I first noticed it getting on the interstate. I was at about 1500 rpm in 5th gear at 60 mph. I shifted into 6th and got on it and the truck surged and then took off.
I can only get this to happen in 5th or 6th gear
I don't believe it is the clutch slipping. It's too rpm/throttle specific and the rpm's drop.
I changed the tune to "performance", problem still existed
I changed the tune to back to stock (still deleted) and the problem is gone.
No check engine lights or codes.
My first thought was fuel filter, but problem still existed after the new filter.

I first noticed the issue after leaving the dealer to have the oil changed. I can't imagine the "quick lube" area did anything to the truck. They have a window from the waiting area and the truck never left my sight. Most of my driving has been in town lately, with limited hard accelerations. So this could have been an issue for a while

I've also had issues with the truck not starting, or almost starting and then dying right away. I'm not sure if that's related or not. It's pretty intermittent and rare, maybe once a month.

My next thought was to get a scan tool and check fuel pressure at WOT. Maybe the fuel pressure relief valve is bad?

Any other thoughts?

Simply put...your clutch is slipping. Thats exactly what mine would do in the early stages of "slippage" always while getting on the interstate. Then one day it let go all together.

I thought I replied but I guess not...

Thanks guys. That's what I was afraid of, but I was in denial. It seems to run fine on the stock tune, so I'll do that for now.

In all honesty, you could probably still get a lot of miles out of it the way it is. I did. Mine finally went when I was towing my 37 ft. toyhauler. It slipped so bad after that I could barely even use 5th gear anymore. I just bit the bullet and installed a Southbend dual disc and never looked back.
