My trucks recently begun flashing the right turn signal whenever I flip the switch left. Apparently this is a common problem with 3rd gen trucks. Anyways I noticed that if, when its acting up, you pull the control stick towards the door it blinks left again. You need to be forceful, but if you are waiting on a replacement part, or just trying to get home safely after the problem starts, its a lifesaver (literally). Hope this helps someone.

Mine did it today for the first time while trying to drive in morning traffic,.. what a shat storm,.. I felt like an idiot.

So I pulled off the road,.. of course to the right,.. and moved the lever up and down a few times quickly and it fixed the problem. Now I am paranoid when driving and check to see if it is indeed flashing left when I signal left.

Only trucks I have driven are a 1997 2500, one 2002 2500, three 2003 3500, and my 2006. I did not experience this with the other trucks but this one.

Mine has been doing the thing where when you cancel the signal it starts signaling the opposite direction and it's a #@&$ to make it stop signaling at all. Next time it happens, I'll try pulling the stalk out like you said. I seem to remember seeing a TSB about this, but haven't dug into it too much deeper as of yet.

mine does it. someone said something about the module that the stalk connects to in the column can get gummed up or have too much grease/oil/lube on it from the factory and can cause problems. im gonna get mine replaced soon as i am going out of warranty in a few weeks.

I have an '06 mega cab and found out my muti-switch has an extended warranty for 150,000 miles or 120 months at no additional cost . Not sure if this warranty is for all 3rd generation years or just 2006...might be worth checking into.

Sweet. Any specific year models or other restrictions that you know of?

Not sure on the model (2500, 3500) or year...I will try to get more information and post what I find.

SandyMushCummins: I was up in your area...I just traded my '04 2500 quad cab on a '06 3500 mega cab single rear wheel at egolf Dodge in Hendersonville.

Great dealership. That's where I bought mine new. Jay Egolf took good care of me. Between what he knocked off the sticker, plus giving me $2k over Blue Book on my half-ton, then throwing in Mopar step rails, he saved me ten thousand dollars. Then his service department recalibrated my comp for the larger tires for free when the time came. $32k out the door. Hope your experience was as good.

I am the original owner of my truck, I got a letter from Dodge, it says that my switch has a 150K mile warranty, I put that letter in my glove box with my other Dodge related paperwork so I would have it handy if/when I had the problem. Probably everyone's truck has that extention, go to Chryslers website, put in your VIN and see what it tells you about your truck and the switch. It is a safety issue, the feds got involved, all 2006's should have the recall for sure.

It has been known for some time that this switch has problems, the recall/extended warranty stuff came earlier this year or late last year. Another problem has to do with wiring that gets a little stretched when you move the steering around, everyone might want to take a look at the wiring harnesses under the dash and make sure the routing of the harnesses is right, or you get the turn signal stuff too, and your switch may or may not be your problem.

Here's a quote (from another forum) from when I did mine

Okay mine started doing it again. So I took it apart again and took a pic of where the dirt/grease builds up and causes a problem. Sorry the pic is after I wiped the crap away but you'll see where it builds up.
The first pic is just the assembly apart to show what it looks like. The contacts for the signal lights are at the bottom right of the circuit board.

The grease and dirt completely filled the void in the contacts and caused the signalling problems.

Now I did this last night and today no more signalling problems. Hope this helps.

Cool seastud... im going to have to try that. Been living with messed up turn signals for about a month now. Perkins dodge in Colorado Springs told me my truck does not have the 150k mile warranty, even though its an 06 and Ive heard about the problem in 03+... possibly older. Still, im going to run my vin on the website like CD in NM said. Perkins dodge is pretty shady if you ask me, anyone else dealt with them?

Took me 20 minutes start to finish to replace the MFS in the '05 at work.

Very easy job.

Attempted to remove the switch this morning but it looks like the switch is wrap around the column. Did you remove the steering whee to extract the switch out?l

You shouldn't have to pull the steering wheel. I thought mine was wrapped around at first too. Takes a little force to get it moving but should pull strait out.

That being said... I have never done an 07 but I wouldn't think it would be any different.
