Hey fellas, in my 05 I hit a deer and turned it into the insurance. Got the check back, ordered a Road Armor bumper, then ordered two sets of the PIAA white brights 520. We wired them straight to the battery and they ran great for two months, then the bulbs blew??

I talked to a rep for PIAA, he guarantees these bulbs for 8 or 10 years. THey have a one year warranty so he sent me new bulbs but idk what to do I don't want to put them in and blow again. Keep in mind these bulbs are 60 bucks just for 2!

The lights are wired straight to the battery. I'm thinking maybe the grid heaters are kicking them from low to high causing them to blow?

Any suggestions??

I have 2 sets of the piaa 520 smr driving lights, I have the piaa relay going to the battery for power and the source wire going to the park light wire. I only use them if truck is going 80kms per hour of faster. These lights get hot, so when just sitting or driving slow they are not getting any type of cooling. My first set of lights failed after 2 years.

You can't use your aux lights unless your on the highway. Sounds irritating. I am super pleased with my lightforce'. I'm not sure what kind of fitment issues that might cause though.

i can use them with the truck parked, i just find that they put out a lot of heat which can cause them to burn out faster. so i choose to only use them while at hwy speeds to help keep them cool. i have a set of the Jetco duel beam lights on my Gmc, had them since 2005 and so far i havent had to change the bulbs.

I see. One set of the 520's are wired into my fog lights so whenever pull my fog lights they come on and run with the low beams. When i flip my high beams, they go. I know alot of people say that can blow then flipping them on and off like that but i really don't. The other set is wired as extra i can flip them on whenever.

What are my other options other than running around 80kms? Which is what in MPH?

80kms is about 50mph if I am correct. I choose to only turn mine on at higher speeds to keep them cooler. They may last just as long without the speed, but it is an electrical component that can fail at any time.

This does sound irritating. Whats the point if a man can only run them on the highway?

Also, I have a set of 6 inch PIAA's on my pre runner bar i just ordered,(they were 50%off I kinda had too, didn't really want more PIAA's but the price was right) i'm guessing those 6inchers will run just as hott or hotter therefore i have to run them LESS, right?

You can run them at any time, it is not just Piaa's that get hot. But I have had excellent luck with my Piaa's and their customer service is great as well. My relay crapped out after 3 years and they replaced it no questions asked. Me I just want them to last as long as possible, so I don't use them much or at all if I'm driving slow. Mine are there to help see critters at night while at hwy speeds.
