This is my first Cummins and love it but not familiar with what to have in the tool box while traveling. I know some guys have had to have their cam position sensors replaced. Is there anything else that is also a simple fix that tends to go at the most inoportune moment with the cummins?

Thanks AGLODXJ and BEERPLAY..... I guess the only other thing I'll throw in the box is that cam position sensor.

HEY BOSS YOU HAVE A CAM SHAFT SENSOR AND A CAM POSITION SENSOR JUST FYI THE CAM SHAF SENSOR IS A BOOGER TO GET OFF AND THE TWO LOOK IDENTICAL
Great! not what i wanted to hear  Where are they located? I need to spend some time and get familiar as to where they are for my own peace of mind. The reason for my original question is because my previous f350 7.3 was like clock work every 60k to 70k miles the cam position sensor would fry and the truck would shut off.

cell phone and a credit card
:ditto:
I find those 2 items make all the rest possible. :headbang:

If you're in back country, cash is good too for small town shops.

I'm not 6.7 savvy, but sitting behind the rear seat of my 5.9 are:

- fuel filter
- water pump
- serpentine belt
- belt tensioner
- couple u-joints (one front axle, one driveshaft)

I don't carry tools that would allow me to actually change the u-joints - but at least I'll have the parts so any halfway decent shop could do it.
