Does any body else have an issue with the factory paint?

I have a white 3500 C & C

I have a flatbed so its not an issues but the cab is showing primer through on the front left fender and there is a rediculous ammount of chips, some the size of dimes behind the front wheels and even on the cab behind the back doors.

I dont have one sheet of metal without primer showing through on it.

I am afraid it will be like the 98 model blue dodge 1500's that have half the paint missing but primer is still pristine beneath.

I will try to get some pictures when I get home and have some time.

I am going to take truck into dealer one day soon when I have time and Ill keep you posted on what they say.

But for now has any one else had this issue? I only have 15k miles on it and I havent been offroading.

Not nearly as bad as yours but, were rocks are hitting the rocker panel behind the front tires I have a lot of little chips. Very annoying.

Yeah the paint is very thin on the 4th gens and chips very easily. The brillaint Black crystal pearl coat is the worst offender. In fact dodge stopped using it after 2011. Changed it to a true clear coat.

I believe that color (& others) was dropped due to paint pigments no longer being available. Chipping was not the reason for them being discontinued.

didn't know why, just knew it wasn't available. Mine if the wind blows a grain of sand it leaves a scratch. The official documentation on my paint color actually says it is an interior based paint, I hope that was a typo on the invoice.

Mines white. I bought mine around the time of Japan Sunami, dealer told me they had discontinued certain metallic colors due to availabilty issues from Japan.?.? I try to keep my paint as nice as possible, clay and wax it often. So far so good. I think the rockers are just part of having a truck. My last Chevy did it too.
