My 05 is throwing me a p0234 overboost code and defueling due to that code pretty regularly if I get on it at any sort of Highway speeds or if I really romp on it at low speeds, truck is completely stock to my knowledge other than a bully dog gt diesel tuner that I put on it (the truck did have EFI live on it before I bought it to my knowledge). The truck was throwing the code before I put the bully dog on it so that would not be the cause. We have swapped the MAP sensor and the TIPM from another 05 that i have onto it as well as completely replaced the wastegate solenoid on the turbo. Boost pressure shown on the bully dog never exceeds 28 psi but seems like it gets there faster than it should (could be wrong on that though because I’ve never driven another one with a boost gague to see how fast it actually builds boost). Any ideas on what could be causing this or any solutions, could it be an ECM problem or could I resolve this with just a boost fooler from somewhere like bd diesel or industrial injection?

Well, it being an ‘05 it certainly didn’t have EFILive before as ‘06 is the oldest supported.

I won’t pretend that Bully Dog is great tuning, or even good, but shouldn’t be causing issues. I’d toss a boost fooler on as a quick fairly cheap check and go from there

Hit post before I wanted. The wastegate solenoid could cause it, it wouldn’t open the gate and the ecm would see that. A boost cooler would narrow that down quick

Thanks, any suggestions on what fooler to get, and also I do know that the bully dog isn’t great by any means but I don’t really ever run it on anything other than stock or tow, mainly just for diagnostic use and to see pressures and temps
