New here so if I’m doing this wrong don’t hate me…

2006 2500 5.9 with 155k miles

just got my truck back from the shop after having new remanned injectors installed (Bosch 30% over reman). Went and picked it up from the shop and drove around all day today with zero issues. Got on it a bit, maybe 75% throttle and heard a clicking noise under the hood. I let off and it drove and sounded just fine maybe a bit of white smoke from the pipe. Was about a block from home andI did the same thing, about 75% throttle and it got up and went then more clicking and it started billowing white smoke out of the tailpipe. Parked it and it dieseled a bit and shut down. Checked codes and had p0148 and p0606. First off, what would the clicking noise I heard be? Couldn’t be bad injectors? Maybe the pump took a dump? I’m pretty new to diesel engines so I’m learning the best I can. Everything I look up say the 606 code is not acode You want to see..

Check valve lash?
Otherwise, I would guess one of your reman injectors failed, pretty common unless BBI or New Bosch
I would not drive tow back to shop, test injectors
I hade a shop put the injectors in, I couldn’t find the time lol I’m towing it back to them so they can double check their work. After thinking about it some more, this truck sat over the past 4-5 months because I don’t need to drive it in winter. Would the FCA stick do you think? It drove around fine all day, it wasn’t until I got on it that it started making the “clicking” noise and dumping white smoke

Do you have untreated fuel in tank?
With good fuel, proper filtration should really not matter how long truck sits.

A lot of issues can cause fuel pressure issue P0148 but most common is injectors ,stock remans are a gamble, modified remans bigger gamble yet, only way to know for sure is test them.
Clicking noise could be big issue if it involves valve train on these motors, zero interference so piston to valves contact cause a lot of damage very quickly.

I treated the tank with some valvetec fuel treatment before I parked it. It got a new fuel filter with the injectors too. The clicking went away after a few seconds so I don’t THINK that it’s valvetrain but then again I could be wrong. I just scheduled the tow, so I’m hoping to find out by tomorrow

Why new injectors?
If sure good clean water free fuel.
proper install ,ie,. new connector tubes, torqued to 40+ft/lbs valve train double checked.
Then most common issue is reman injectors.

Injectors were weak and failing according to testing done on them. Prior to the injector install it smoked on start up and had a rough idle for awhile until it warmed up a bit. Now it’s (well had) a clean start up and no smoke! I was excited… then I turned on party mode and it didn’t like it very much or something didn’t. Shop is going to dig back into their work and double check everything with zero cost to me.
